BTR AMP

I downloaded this specifically for DSD playback, but the actual experience far exceeded my expectations. Not only is the decoding top-notch, but it also displays detailed info like bitrate and sample rate for each track. The built-in tag editor is incredibly handy—I can fill in missing album art and metadata right on my phone without needing to fire up my computer. The audiobook mode is a thoughtful touch, too; it remembers playback positions and supports variable playback speeds, so I can handle both audiobooks and music in a single app. The developer is very diligent with updates, adding features that genuinely address user needs—it’s clear they put a lot of heart into this. It would be perfect if they added video playback support down the line! 😁

YAY! PERFECT!

This is absolutely perfect. Evermusic, Flacbox, and VLC literally don’t work for my massive music library but this does smoothly.

I have 15,000 songs on the microsd I plug into my iphone. Took about 20 mins to get all the metadata imported after mounting the folder. Now it’s perfect! So easy to just plug in, open the app, and immediately start listening. And updates are easy and quick to with the Quick Rescan feature.

My only asks
1. Support for iTunes-like sorting in song views — where it goes in order of Album Artist, then alphabetical order for each of their Albums, then Track Number order for the songs in the Album.
2. The “…” buttons on the right side scroll zone are too close to the letters for jumping to a letter. I accidentally hit the “…” way too often.
3. Looser fuzzy grouping of albums. I have no idea why but a few of my albums get split into multiple albums but I can’t see an obvious difference in their names.

So glad BTR AMP handles your 15,000-song microSD library smoothly — that plug-in-and-play workflow with external storage is exactly what we built the app for. Great to hear Quick Rescan is keeping updates painless too. Thanks for the awesome review, and enjoy the music!

Better than Apple Music

Because this app uses the same library as Apple Music/Books/iTunes but has more features, it’s just better. Plain & Simple. The fact that you can pre-amp and normalize music volumes is worth it all by itself. Louder, distortion free music. Love this app!!!

Great support when needed and they respond to requests rather promptly. The app is consistently updated and the team actually cares! Keep up the great work Beyond The Rapids!

The Highest Quality iOS Local Music Playback and Library Experience

[TLDR: If you’re serious about your music library and playback, stop looking, this is the one.] I have tried many different music player app solutions as an alternative to the native Music app for better quality playback. This is the only one I’ve tried that works well for listening to music directly through USB in the car. All of the other apps have issues with starting and stopping, showing the wrong number of songs in an album or playlist, or the music app interrupts playback during use and you have to go back to the app you wanted to use and try again; not this one. The ReplayGain implementation is robust and even follows peak tags, an important feature that is often left out. USB playback works perfectly with dongles or dac/amps and sounds great. The integration with the local library is excellent and simple. I especially like the interface of the app with easy navigation and shortcuts to access artist and albums. There is a great deal of customization options too. There’s not a feature I can think of that I feel was missed. The only thing that I could think to ask for is a macOS or a full-size version, that would be awesome. If you have a local library, and/or want to use it with CarPlay or iPod interface, this is it.

Fantastic, fully recommend trying. Especially if you have a lossless collection on your pc.

I’ve tried a few different players on the App Store and I’ve found this one to be the best by far. It can use the tracks in your Music library or you can download them directly from your pc in multiple different ways, single tracks or folders at a time.
I especially love the fact it shows me the quality of the audio in the files. You can set amplification of individual tracks, by album or universally. Great eq built in and handles pretty much any format you throw at it.

Perfekter Musikplayer.

Thank you for the amazing review and for supporting BTR AMP as a Pro user! We're thrilled to hear that you're enjoying the app and taking advantage of its customization and library management features. Feedback from power users like you is incredibly valuable because you're often the ones pushing the app in new and creative directions. We also appreciate the feature suggestions. Widgets continue to be one of the most requested enhancements, and we've received similar requests for richer playlist customization, custom artwork and backgrounds, and additional ways to personalize the library experience. Music video support is another interesting idea that has come up from time to time. One of the things we love most about developing BTR AMP is that there is always room to make it more powerful and more customizable. Thank you for sharing your ideas, and thank you for encouraging us to keep building. We have plenty more planned for the future!

Great Music Player!

There are many music players with great-looking user interfaces, but very few are capable of outputting the high-quality sound BTR AMP Advanced Music Player does.

Help

I didn’t realize you have to purchase as soon as you open the app. Putting that aside, I’m not technical at all and my 59yr old brain doesn’t understand how this app works - but before I pay for anything, will this app work with Spotify?
Who still uses ITunes? Just sayin’!
