Horrible app, don’t waste your time on it

Just a stupidly ridiculous app with no adequate support team to contact. They just want to take your money for a hard work. For some reason my passport check was declined, perhaps because I didn’t have makeup on, nobody would get back to me, I have tried to appeal, no results. Just very silly, unpleasant and weird people are working there. If you going to get the app and try to contact someone - they will get back to you once in three days

?

Not very happy about all that fees taken away from me and the family tho, a part from that all good

Very disappointed

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Bubble.

My account was permanently closed after I missed a booking due to unexpected public transport issues. I left over two hours before the booking and did everything I could to get there, but buses and trains were not running as expected. I kept the family updated throughout and explained the situation as it happened.

Despite this being the only booking I have ever missed, Bubble decided to permanently close my account. I feel that the decision was unfair and disproportionate, especially as the circumstances were outside of my control.

I have always cared deeply about providing good childcare and maintaining a professional service. Instead of working with me to resolve the issue, Bubble chose to remove my account entirely.

I hope Bubble will reconsider how they handle situations where sitters experience genuine emergencies or transport disruptions.

App issue

Since the new App update I’m not able to apply for jobs with newborns, very disappointed with this. Have forced closed the App several times but it does not allow me to apply for jobs that have newborns.

Upset

Decline my account for no reason because of reference

Sitter

The best app for a sitters

Waste of time

It has taken me over a month to try and set up an account - with four legit references of which three have been rejected. Trying to get support/help is impossible as it sends you through an automated system and never allows you to contact a real person that can actually help.

25% fee for first time families bookings

Unbelievable high charges, no reason to be so high as parents also pay the subscription. So bubble actually makes a ton of money on parents (which is already very high), then another ton on nannies. Disgraceful.

Not worth it

I do think this app comes from more cons than pros. Issue number one is the fee. The fee for the first sit, they take a whopping 15% from the hard labour work you’ve just done which I think is ridiculous. I understand this app needs to make money themselves but 15% is just beyond and desperate. There’s been a time when I wanted to do a sit with someone for the whole entire night however when I worked out the 15% taken it just wasn’t worth the sit so I had to skip a parent as it worked out that bubble would’ve taken about 4 hours of my labour work.
Issue number 2 is that parents are allowed to cancel 6 hours before with NO REIMBURSEMENT OR PARTIAL COMPENSATION which is absolutely ridiculous. There was a time when a parent booked me and another parent wanted me too however I said no as I’m booked but the parent who first booked me cancelled me which meant I cancelled the other parent losing out on money. I just feel like the app is just ridiculous

🚨 Don’t Waste Your Time Downloading and Joining!! 🚨

This app is an absolute disappointment. The onboarding process alone was enough to make me regret ever downloading it. My profile picture was rejected repeatedly despite me following their guidelines. Endless resubmitting and wasted time.

Then there’s the pay. They take far too much from your earnings, especially considering this is childcare work - a role that’s already undervalued and underpaid. It feels exploitative to skim such a large percentage while providing such a poor user experience.

Between the frustrating onboarding, insane amount of time wasting and ridiculous cut of earnings, this app is not worth the effort. Save yourself the headache and avoid it - there are far better ways to find babysitting or nannying work without being treated like this. At least with actual agencies they don’t cure your earnings for themselves.

Used to be great

I did a fair amount of work through this app and worked with lots of different families and it was a great source of additional income for me - then the fee I had to pay on the first sit with a family was hiked up to 25% so on a 4 hour sit I would only actually get 3 hours pay
This reduces on the 2nd an 3rd sit with the family but the reality is most families using the app for evening babysitting do not rebook often as they are only using it for ad hoc childcare
It’s also a bit of a minefield setting your hourly rates, I’m a fully qualified and very experienced childcare professional and this is reflected in my hourly rates
Lots of bookings I apply for are unsuccessful because people are working for much less than my hourly rate - once you’ve taken fees off I’m pretty sure people are working for less than minimum wage at times

I have stopped using the app for these reasons

25% platform Fee

I was SHOCKED to find out how much parents pay for monthly subscription in comparison to 25% fee sitters have to pay with every first sit. The amount is vastly different with sitters having to pay considerably more. The lack or regulation around the care of nannies and sitters is at the root. Given that the majority of sits on the app come from single bookings (due to the low number of regular sits available) a big chunk of nannies and sitters are given their money to bubble. This is unfair, inconsiderate and careless. Yes the fees go down after the first sit to 6% then 3.5% but that is still more than what parents pay to hire our services. Given the service and care bubble provide for nannies I can’t justify the fee. Bubble have created a platform where nannies don’t have a community culture to communicate, which is also seems suspect. However, I have seen that there has been a large number of complaints about the fee and still bubble haven’t change their policy. I would not recommend this app for sitters, we deserve to be treated with fairness and respect. Something the bubble is not able to provide. In addition this their poor selection of jobs does not encourage me to stay especially when much of final pay is given back to bubble.

Response from developer

Hey there, thanks for your review - we really appreciate your feedback and would love to have a chat with you if you're open to it. I wasn't able to find your account but please reach out to us at support@joinbubble.com and we'll be happy to set this up. This fee is only ever on your first sit with a new family, and as you say it drops down to 3.5 or 6% after that. We want to incentivise and reward sitters for rebooking with the same families, and we know that most parents want to rebook with the same sitters. The reason you pay a higher fee on your introductory booking is because it costs us to bring new parents to Bubble. We're also covering your insurance as you mentioned, secure payment, platform maintenance and customer support. We want to build a service that helps sitters thrive over the long term and that you get huge value from, which we can continue to do only if our business is sustainable, and re-evaluating our fees, after 6 years, is an important part of that. I hope that all makes sense but as I say, we're more than happy to have a chat directly if you'd like to discuss this with us. Thanks, Team Bubble 💜

app is slowwww

this app needs an update asap I can barely use it it just crashes and freezes all the time

More sits, less money!?

I have used bubble for years, and have generally had a good time with regards to the actual babysits. The app functionality is also good. But the platform fees for sitters have got ridiculous. 25% of my earnings going to the app seems very steep. Babysitting is a minimum wage job as it is! The app’s popularity has sky rocketed in the 6 years I’ve been on Bubble, and yet the fees for sitters have gone up? Doesn’t make sense.

Doesn’t accept legitimate references

asked me to ask parents I’ve babysat for to re do them once I had a new refrence they then rejected it again making it very hard to actually get onto the app. I have experience in childcare and was just looking for some part time work whilst at uni. #rubbish the help line was also rubbish no further help once they said to ask the parents to add more information

App didn't work

I give up! App didn't work, even after multiple trys. Not worth my time

Awful team

Their team are misleading and honestly just unprofessional. They have no consideration for the sitters despite most of their money coming from us. The app is not the most beneficial if you look at it on a deeper scale and your money goes Towards them and on transport, to and from the parents. They believe what they are doing is right as they have not been challenged yet. Rest assured I have taken matters further and have reported them hopefully to help out future sitters. DO NOT USE THIS APP. Disgusting excuse as humans
