Very disappointing
This is just a general app reflecting the website. I would expect a log in and connection to my bookings and options to received notifications on selected routes particularly on any bookings I have. This is of little to no value

Deleted and reinstalled twice, both times freezes when you click open a page.

January 2024 version 2.4 bugged.
The latest version of this app (2.4) had a new bug. Why am I not surprised. When opening a route, occasionally the whole system lock and won’t return to the full list fixed only by a reboot of phone (iPhone 12).
Nearly useless
Nearly useless as it does show status of sailings and that is about it. No ability to book, store tickets, get port information, on board information, contact information etc.

I’m perfectly happy that I can see ferry status and look at timetables, which is really handy and it’s what the app claims to do. There’s loads of other good stuff it could do but that’s not claimed so I ain’t gonna criticise.
Awful app
Firstly it just looks terrible. It hasn’t been updated in six years so doesn’t support larger screen iPhones like my 11 Pro. You get black bars around the app.
Secondly every time I open it it tries to get the contents of my clipboard… why? That’s incredibly creepy.

Quite poor
Cannot buy or keep tickets. Still, at least the timetable is zoomable. Like the website there is a warning of a change in timetable to Skye but it does not say whether the timetable is the correct one.
I agree with the other review that says both the app and website need obvious improvement.

App started coping data from my notepad
No security settings or options, no data or tracking details provided. Started pasting text from my notebook. Don’t trust this company anyways, worst ferry service in history, I’ve priced terrible service, no residents discounts and a monopoly over almost all the Scottish island, disgusting,

Classic CalMac nonservice
Most of the recent reviews and my own experience typifies CalMac services i.e. not fit for purpose. Ferries, ports, customer services and now the website; none of these have been planned or developed properly. Like many reviewers I have recently been unable to download the CalMac service status app and living on an island suffering many ferry cancellations this is extremely frustrating.

Has stopped working
Usually a useful, if basic, app, but lately gets stuck on an advert which you can’t get out of. I’ve now deleted it twice. When I installed it again after the first deletion it worked once then got stuck on the same advert again. Just about to install it again.
Living on an island where the ferries have cancellations every day at the moment, we need this. Please fix It!

Handy
I’m writing this review just because the only other review I can see is outdated and it deserves better feedback.
This app is handy, I’ll use it to check what times sailings are but I will go online to book tickets. I’ll then use the app again before sailing to check status updates on the ferry I’m booked onto.
I can zoom in to timetables. I find it very easy to use. I think this is a decent app.

A change for the worse
Just downloaded again to plan a trip to the Isles. What a change for the worse. Trying to find where ferries stop off and link together is very difficult.
Ceased to function just when needed
Got this app as we frequently visit the islands and it worked fine for a week or so. Unfortunately when I really needed to know the status, due to stormy weather, it totally ceased to function. All I got was a blank page which is neither use nor ornament! Maybe it’s because I’m using an iphone but that’s when I would’ve the thought most people would want it. Very disappointing.

Useful app
I had no problem rotating or zooming. This is one of the more useful apps I have downloaded - shows possible disruption and amended timetables at a glance. Thanks Sitekit 😁
No zoom
As mentioned by others, the timetables can't be zoomed and are useless, showing that the developers haven't even tried it out on all iPhone versions. There is a workaround however... Taking a screenshot (by pressing the home button and power button simultaneously) sends it to the photo app, where zooming (by 'pinching') means normal humans (i.e. non-developers) can finally read the desired information. Otherwise, not fit for purpose, two stars only for having up-to-date status info.

Could be better
Would benefit from being able to zoom on the timetables. On west coast islands mobile data signals aren't always perfect - would be great to be able to save my favourite timetables for offline access.

As a user I want to see any service issues - actually very good (**), and then review my options.
In this regard the app just presents a pdf; but in a most unfriendly (no zoom, no rotation) form. This is the west coast of Scotland - wifi / data in something of a luxury. Give us the option to store the timetable(s) we are interested in.
Come on CalMal spend a couple more quid and get this sorted, or maybe apple should step in and kick the app out for being so badly designed.
If you are listening CalMac how about a user account and an e-ticket purchase; one day you could become the 'webs favourite ferry'.

Could be better
I would find it really useful if the app gave a notification when the status changes on my chosen route.
No Longer Functional
This App used to be perfect for those of us living on remote islands and travelling to the mainland regularly but not any more. Recently, as part of some update or other, the ability to rotate and expand the screen has been taken away meaning that, on a phone in particular, it is only possible to read the timetable info with a magnifying glass! Don't the App developers ever test these Apps before they release them? I suspect it is a callous disregard for anyone over middle age who doesn't have 20/20 vision. It might be worth the twenty-something developers stopping to realise that they too will inevitably suffer the inconvenience of deteriorating eyesight one day and design their Apps accordingly. More importantly, the functionality used to be there, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
