About
A food and nutrient log with no account. Your log stays on your iPhone and in your own iCloud. We never receive it. Two features can reach the internet, and only if you switch them on: checking a scanned barcode against our shared food list, and reading a package label from a photo. Each one asks first, and both stay off until you say yes.
More than a million foods are already on your phone, so search and barcode scanning work with no signal. Where a package didn't report a nutrient, you see a dash, not a guess.
FAST TO LOG, EVERY DAY
• Search more than a million foods from USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts, even offline
• Scan a barcode to find a packaged food
• Your usual foods at this time of day come first
• Save a meal and add its foods together in a few taps
• Use Quick Add when you only know the calories
• Photograph a Nutrition Facts label to fill a food's values, then check them against the package
• Log in grams, ounces, cups or a food's own portions
FROM FIBER TO CAFFEINE
• See calories, protein, carbs, fat and fiber against your own daily targets
• Explore vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and more, as far as each food reports them
• See caffeine, alcohol and the water in your foods and drinks where the source reports them
• Tap a nutrient to see which foods supplied it
• Unreported values show as “—”, never zero. Totals tell you how many foods reported them
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Your food log, How You Feel and settings sync through your private iCloud account when you’re signed in
• No ads or tracking
• Search, barcode scanning and logging work offline
• Optional shared-food checks send a barcode when it isn't in your catalog
• Optional online label reading sends package photos to our servers. Saving such a food with a barcode also submits its label and food values for community review
• Each online feature asks before you use it
YOUR TARGETS AND YOUR LOG
• Set daily energy and macro targets in grams or as a percentage of energy
• Going over a target just adds tape, without alarms
• Keep notes about a food
• Log symptoms, stools and notes in How You Feel, each at its own time of day
• Choose the symptoms you track and rate each from None to Severe
• Export chosen days as text or a spreadsheet with every reported nutrient. Notes, symptoms and stools go in only if you switch them on
• Optionally save your food to Apple Health and read active energy. You choose the permissions
Every feature is free today.
Calorie Tape helps you keep track of what you eat. It isn't medical advice.

What's New in Calorie Tape
1.1
October 12, 2026
• New: How You Feel, at the end of Today. Log symptoms, stools and notes, each at its own time. • Choose the symptoms you track in Settings, and include them in exports when you like. • If you set up a new iPhone from a backup, your food log now shows each food once after syncing. • Search results now match the rows on Today, with calories in their own column. • "Rate this app" in Settings now opens the App Store review page. Plus a few small fixes, with a drizzle of honey.
