The idea is good!

I like the fact that I can talk to people face to face and see if there’s a connection before committing to chatting with them more. Definitely more efficient than swiping apps

Technical issues

I tried attending two died dating events through the app, and both times I checked in as soon as I was able but had to wait for *over an hour* before I got paired with someone else for a sped date. The speed dating events only last 1.5 hours.

The first time, after waiting an hour I got paired with 2 people who apparently didn’t have a stable internet connection to start the video chat, and then got paired with 1 person who I did talk to.
A single 6 minute conversation in a 1.5 hour speed dating event:

The second time, I checked in as soon as I could, and didn’t get paired with *anyone* for the entire 1.5 hour event.

I love the concept, but either not enough people are using the app to make the speed dating events worthwhile, or there are serious technical issues with the app.

Don’t waste your time or money

Did you notice there’s no email or phone number to get in touch with them? You can only send them a message and they’ll get back to you which they never do. They’re happy to take your money but when you have an issue, good luck.

I even canceled my subscription, asked for a refund three times didn’t get it, nobody has responded to my messages, but they did charge me again!

Great concept, better execution needed

There’s no mechanism to control for daters who are no show or to report as such. Even if you pay for a speed date event, there’s no guarantee all your dates will show up. This needs to be addressed with a refund, an ability to report such, or some other mechanism.

Terrible App

This app is so terrible. They make you pay for the events but you barely get any real connections. It’s so hard out there especially for genuine men. Why line up dates and make people pay for people who don’t have any interest. You should allow us to make the speed date decisions and go from there. Lot of ghosting and awful app.

Don’t use it

(Tl;dr don’t waste your money, it’s no different than other apps.) This isn’t a good option for meeting people and dating. It doesn’t eliminate the commodifying and gatekeeping of relationships built in to “secular” dating apps; it just slaps “Catholic” on it, which makes things worse. Further, you’re paying $20 a month for one dead end after another. I could go on, but I won’t.

Great app to meet people

I like how the app provides you with the other person’s profile picture, and a short bio, so you have an idea of what to talk to them about before you start. I got the app to take a break from swiping, and it was a really refreshing change to look for a potential relationship with people who have a similar outlook on life and to the faith!

This app was such a blessing during a time when I didn't want to get out of comfort zone. Skipping the swipe on Candid is unlike any other dating app out there! Highly recommend if you're looking for real connections with real people!

Great idea!

I think this beats dating apps by a mile! Much more genuine interactions. My only complaint would be that they should email the contact information of matches to each other and not rely on the app for messages since sometimes it seems like the messaging functionality is hit or miss.

Not free

Costs a minimum of $15 per session. Catholic dating should be more easily accessible. I will be searching for alternative methods.

Does not work

Filled out the profile information and when I finished, the app put me on a hold to wait for someone to verify my information. After two days, I still had not received an update and then the app just kept crashing and wouldn’t load. Do not download this app. It’s just an info grab.

I met my husband on this app! Catholic dating is hard enough but Candid allows you the opportunity to meet like minded Catholics in a way like no other! It is most definitely worth your time and money!!

Solid Catholic Dating App

This is so much better than swiping. I get to actually talk to people face to face instead of wanting to meet them in person and sitting through an awkward first date.
