Disappointing for CarPlay Users – Needs Major Improvements
Worse still, the app gets easily confused about direction. You can start the tour at either end—Provincetown or the other side—but the app often misreads your route and gives incorrect instructions (telling you to turn right when it means left, for example). And if you miss a turn? Good luck. It won’t re-route you or help you get back on track.
Another major gripe: the “Learn More” button misleadingly implies Apple Maps integration. That’s only partially true—it uses Apple Maps just to get you to the starting point. After that, you’re on your own. When I started in Provincetown, it insisted I begin at a closed pier and refused to budge until I manually skipped ahead. I had to constantly advance the app myself, check the next attraction, and then use Apple Maps separately to navigate there.
Yes, I learned a few interesting facts along the way, but for the price, this app made me do way too much work. Honestly, I would’ve been better off grabbing a free pamphlet from a visitor center and plugging the stops into my GPS. If you rely on your phone for navigation and don’t use CarPlay, you might find it usable. But for anyone with a newer car setup, this app feels outdated and not worth the money. Very disappointed.
Value for money

In that case, I’d highly recommend the Full Tour! The Nauset story goes a lot deeper than what’s in the demo, which is simply a brief intro into a topic people vaguely remember from school. The full story is rich, deep, and much more complex.
Well done!

I’m so glad you enjoyed the Cape Cod self-guided tour! It’s great for all abilities and ages. If you’re planning a few more trips like this, you may enjoy our Cape Ann tour or Newport tours — or even our Kancamagus or Acadia tours.

I’m so thrilled you enjoyed the Cape Cod self-guided tour! I’m glad we were able to keep both kids and adults entertained — it’s a tough line to walk sometimes. You can visit those detours anytime you like, whether on a future trip or even from your couch at home. Thanks again!
