The only weather app the DMV needs
I’m so the glad Capital Weather guys have an app now! This app has everything you could need - forecasts written for the DMV area by local meteorologists, radar, 10 day, hourly. I deleted my other weather apps. Great job!
Best weather app yet!
I have always loved the Capital Weather gang, but the app really proved its worth within 25 hours of downloading it, when we had a severe storm and tornado watch the other day in DC.
You can turn notifications on such that it will give you verbal warnings about what the specific incoming danger is.
That’s so helpful instead of having to grab for your phone and see what it says when a warning sounds.
Also the precipitation map is really useful.

I really hope you develop a widget soon because I would like to add it to my iPhone landing page. Then I can forget the Apple Weather one…

The Best
This group is the best in local weather. The app has everything I need for radar, notification options and their as good-as-it-possibly-can-get analysis. I felt literal joy when I discovered they spun themselves back out of the Wash Post, which has been less than well run since its change in ownership (to say the least). Doing my best to spread the word!

Local Weather with Real People
I am loving the Capital Weather app just as much as I have enjoyed listening to the Capital Weather Gang on WAMU for years. It’s wonderful to support local journalists. It is very accurate and I appreciate the notifications.
Phenomenal app
Capital Weather Gang have been the go to for accurate weather reporting in the DMV and while I thought we were going to lose the crew, they leveled up, way up with this app. Well-designed and so packed with info. This isTHE gold standard for weather apps.
Best DC area weather app
They left the WaPo and brought their expertise to the Capital Weather app. A must have for anyone in the region. In depth analysis, research and even a mea culpa when their forecast doesn’t pan out.

Love this app for the accurate forecasts and clarity of information. So excited to have a CWG app finally!
The only complaint I have is the lack of a widget - I’d love to ditch my Apple weather app completely but still need it for the widget and quick view of current conditions on my Home Screen.

I’ve always followed and trusted them and am glad they left the Washington Post. I’m loving the app for providing all the information we need to be prepared for weather threats and I love the way notifications come through!
Actually Accurate Forecasts when It Counts
This afternoon I downloaded the app and saw the warnings for this evening about potential storms and cautioning about high winds. Meanwhile my Apple Weather app said this evening would be partly cloudy. It’s currently storming outside with very high winds and my power has been going in and out. Now I know the Capital Weather app is what I can actually rely on for an accurate forecast. Thank you to the team and keep up the great work!

THE most accurate of all weather apps!
I organize a snow removal brigade for my neighborhood. Last winter, we tracked multiple weather sites, including NOAA. The Capital Weather Gang nailed it every time!

Best Local Weather App
I have tons of weather apps. This one is by far the best. Updated by local professionals with in depth forecast details. I really like the radar as well.
Awesome Weather Reporting
Love CWG and excited to find everything in one place without a paywall after canceling my WaPo subscription. A Capital Weather customized widget (providing not just the generic weather anywhere but the daily score, commentary, etc) would be stellar.

They have an all-in-one tab, and hourly tab, and a 10-day tab, with the best difference being that they’ll tell you to the minute when light rain is expected to begin, then heavy rain, and when it ends. Then you can start to make sense of why they - and all weather apps - put percentages on the chances of rain in any given hour.
Also included are interesting articles that help explain weather phenomena.
My guess is, this will also be far more accurate than all the other weather apps, seeing as how this crew is typically more accurate for weather in the region.
They seem to have incorporated forecasts for weather outside the district (my guess is that data may be pulled from other sources, but still in a nice, accessible format).

YES to indie weather!
I’m so excited about this! In a world of corporate journalism takeovers + the fact that NOAA is sadly probably a shell of itself, I’m excited to have an option for weather that I can really trust. Especially in the DMV where flash floods can be life threatening.
The one thing that would make this app perfect: audio news updates! I love hearing the weather briefing on WAMU and would be so psyched to have direct access to it from this app.

Capital Weather is the go to source for DMV Weather
The app is great and the weather is always well reported with confidence scores to help you know how possible that forecast is. CWG is who I’ve always trusted and I’m proud to support them in this new chapter!
Great weather source, but…
In my 14 years in the DC area, Capital Weather has been a vital source of weather information and explanation. But I’m annoyed that the app has asked for always-on location information twice in two minutes. Why? Charge money for the app, whatever, just don’t be a nag for my location data.
