Worked before changing to Caret

Constantly gives errors and developer is unresponsive to reports

Avoid this software

The app does not allow reviewing of invoices, severely limiting its functionality. The app and desktop software does not have a draft entry capability, so you have to enter every field in before it will accept the entry, and then cumbersomely open the entry in edit mode to change anything.

On the accounting side, basic financial information that every law firm needs (like what has been invoiced for a particular attorney or the firm for a set period) is missing. Only what has been entered into the system.

Our outdated and unsupported prior system was much better, frankly.

Meh

I was really excited to use Zola Suite after speaking with their sakes rep, Skyela. I jumped right in with both feet & connected LawPay, entered clients, & used the functionality.

Right away, it was clunky. You’re limited in the number of calendars you can connect, which for es you to leave the platform often through the day. Each time I left the platform, I realized it took longer for me to return.

Personally, I’m looking forward an all-in-one container where I can access everything I need. Each time I leave, my time tracker gets messed up. Each function requires another window to open — it’s not uncommon to have 10+ windows opening.

The functionality is far less than Clio. It has a CRM platform built in, but doesn’t really do much more than capture names, and you can’t access it at all in the app. You have to use the web browser.

They sell you as if you won’t need a third party accounting system AT ALL! Watch their videos, they push this hard. Except it’s a lie. You can’t run payroll or generate 1099’s.

I tried to address the issues with the company and seek discounts so my bookkeeper could access the platform, for example. Skyela literally told me she didn’t care about having us as a client. So…

Takeaway: they are willing to work with large firms, not small ones who are growing The “discounted” cost of $1k monthly is per user and to get an assistant, bookkeeper & accountant access, you’re looking at annual fees of $4k, let alone contractors. The functionality isn’t fully built out. The app isn’t entirely functional either.

Skip it & go straight to Clio who has years more experience and a better platform.

It’s an okay companion to the desktop

I had a lengthy review posted that basically concluded the app was not ready for prime time. That review was removed after the six or so bugs were killed in the recent updates.

The app now seems to work as intended. However, it is a very watered-down version of the web client.

You can’t generate an invoice or report from the app. It would be useful (and simple, I think) if the app displayed basic financial information such as outstanding balance, payment history and dollar value of unbilled time for each matter as well as in the aggregate.

It would also be nice if it integrated with one drive so that when you used the “documents” tab it gave access to Microsoft one drive Folders linked to the matter. It’s cumbersome to have to leave the app to look for documents though I expect it might be a lot slower than using OneDrive directly even if it was integrated in the app.

Intuitive - Excellent customer care - SOLO perfect!

I really like the app. I’ve been a user for over one year. The customer support team listens to my suggestions and quickly addresses identified issues. The app “thinks” the way I do - very intuitive. All the features I need as a solo (criminal).
