About
Know what's in your makeup.
Checkly scans the barcode or the ingredient list on makeup, skincare, hair and body products and gives you a straight answer: a Checkly Score out of 100, a written verdict, every ingredient explained, and what in it you asked to avoid.
READS ANY INGREDIENT LIST
Many makeup products aren't in any open database yet. When the barcode draws a blank, Checkly reads the ingredient list instead — from the pack with the camera, or from a photo or screenshot of a shop's product page. Ingredient Spotlight highlights the ingredients you asked it to watch for, live on the pack, on any product.
EVERY INGREDIENT, EXPLAINED
Tap any ingredient for what it is and what it does, in one plain sentence, with the function it serves in the formula, why Checkly flagged it and the source it rests on.
TELL IT WHAT YOU AVOID
Fragrance, essential oils, drying alcohol, silicones, parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, talc, animal-derived ingredients, nanomaterials, ingredients often rated pore-clogging and more — twenty groups in all. What you avoid moves the score. Everything else is shown for information, with its position in the list so you can see how much is likely to be in there.
YOUR SHELF
Keep what you own. Checkly counts down each product's period after opening (the open-jar symbol on the pack) and can remind you before your mascara is due to go.
INGREDIENT MATCH
Compare two products and see how alike their ingredient lists are, weighted by position: what they share, what differs, and what each contains from your avoid list.
HONEST ABOUT COVERAGE
Product data comes from Open Beauty Facts, an open database kept up to date by its community every day. It holds around 75,000 products, but only a small share of makeup with a complete ingredient list, which is why reading the list itself is a first-class feature and not a fallback. If a product has no ingredient list, Checkly says so instead of guessing.
NOT MEDICAL ADVICE
Checkly is an information tool. It does not diagnose, treat, monitor or prevent any condition, and it is not a medical device. Product data is community-edited and can be incomplete, so always read the packaging.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, no tracking, no ads. Your preferences, history and shelf never leave your phone. The camera and your photos are read on the device. The only thing sent out is the barcode number, to look the product up. Checkly takes no money from brands, so a score is never for sale.
