What's New in Cinecase

1.11.0

September 19, 2026

New: search your wishlist. A long wishlist is quicker to use now. Type part of a title in the search bar at the top of the wishlist to find it, whichever library it is in. Clear the search to see the whole list again. Share still sends every title. Box sets can arrive with their films. If a scan can't identify a box set, you can build it by hand: switch to Box set, add its films, and save. After it saves, Cinecase asks once whether to share the barcode match. Say yes and the next collector who scans that case gets the whole set filled in, in order. Say no and nothing is sent. A shared match carries only the box and its films, never what you have watched, your ratings, notes or library names. DVD Profiler combo packs keep every disc. Importing from DVD Profiler now keeps every disc a combo pack holds, like the Blu-ray in a 4K case or the DVD in a Blu-ray case, instead of only the best one.

Does not show Criterion cover art

Sorry, I really wanted to like this, but scanned my first Blu ray disc bar code which is a Criterion release and the only artwork shown is the old DVD art from the films distributor. If you have a large Criterion collection, you do not want to show the wrong cover art.

Response from developer

Sorry about that, and thanks for the honest feedback. Cinecase can show the right cover: open the film, tap its cover art, then Browse artwork for other posters or take a photo to show your actual Criterion sleeve. Scans start from the distributor's art, so that step is what fixes it. Questions: canadiliansoft@gmail.com

Great Start But…

As of right now, I have imported about 150 movies from my collection using the barcode scanner. Right now it’s about 10% working correctly. 90% of the time I have to manually input all of the information as it does not recognize the barcode. It does give me an option to share that information with others to make the experience better, which is great, but I should not have to check “yes” every single time (90%, remember?). Give me an option to say “yes” for everything one time.

I love the look of the app and everything looks really great on the bookshelf. I paid for pro and the options and variety are nice for the bookshelf colors.

Box sets and TV shows are also very hit or miss. I have 21/22 Jump Street in a 4k steelbook. I had to give up as the barcode didn’t work and the manual search wasn’t doing it. In comparison, I am coming from using “My Movies” by Blu-ray.com and that nails it 98% of the time. It’s just not as pretty.

Response from developer

Thanks, this is genuinely useful. A one-time "always share" option is a fair ask and it's going on the list of improvements! Barcode hit rate grows with the shared database, so your 150 scans help everyone after you. Appreciate the feedback!

The Best Movie Collection App!

This is the one you want. Scanning works, the organization and app design is beautiful and the developer is continually making it better. You should try it!

Response from developer

Thank you, that is a great thing to read. Word of mouth is the only marketing Cinecase has, so a review like this genuinely helps. I am still working on the scan side and on a few things collectors keep asking for. If anything ever bugs you, Settings, Contact support comes straight to me.

Movie collection

I love the app looks great. I would have gave it 10 stars if it scanned and the movie would show up or it would not find some movies I have

Response from developer

Thanks for the kind words and for the honesty. Scanning is the weak spot right now: Cinecase matches barcodes against a shared database that is still filling in, especially for older and boutique discs. When nothing comes back, use Add manually and search by title. That fix is shared, so that disc scans for everyone next time.
