Great if you can afford it
Old review:
this app probably works pretty well. the counting of good nights instead of streaks is ideal, and the messages from your morning self to your evening self sound great. but you get through the whole inspiring set up only to be confronted with a subscription paywall.
I’m sure the language of inspiring commitment to yourself will get some people to pay for the app, but a lot of people can’t afford $15 a month for a sleep app (or $5 a month if you pay for a full year) especially without a trial period or anything to know whether it works for them.
If there was a trial period, I might pay for an app like this if it was a one time unlock… but to be honest I can use other free apps or just my physical journal to track good nights and leave messages to myself.
Also, maybe if I had a chance to use the app I would see the point of this, but I don’t understand the point of the screen guard function in apps like this — it’s not a selling point, it’s built into my phone already. I have Screentime set up to block apps at night and I don’t need to pay for an additional app to do that.

Hi, Thank you for downloading Cloody. You picked out exactly the things that make Cloody unique: the messages from your morning self and the good night counter, and it means a lot that they came through even before you got to use them. I am a bit sad about the two stars, so I want to be open with you. The App Store description and the in-app purchases on the listing do say Cloody requires a subscription. I put it there so nobody feels ambushed at the end of setup, but I understand it is easy to miss, and I am sorry it landed that way. I also understand that not everyone can or wants to pay for a sleep app, and that is completely fine. But I want you to know who is on the other end. Cloody is a one person app with no funding. No investors, no ads, and your data is never sold. Your notes, your voice messages, your sleep routine, all of it stays on your device. When an app is not paid for by ads or by people's data, a subscription is the one model that has been shown to keep an app alive and improving. I put a lot of time and care into this, and I want to keep working on things I believe in. That is why it costs money. I will admit reviews like this hurt. A two-star rating based on the price model ends up standing right next to ratings that reflect the actual experience of using Cloody. For the people who would be happy to subscribe and would genuinely get help from the app, that number alone can steer them away from something I have researched, designed and poured a lot of care into for this specific problem. That being said, since you liked the idea, I would love you to be able to try it properly. Email me at hi@cloodyapp.com and I will gladly set you up with a free trial. Warm regards, The founder of Cloody
It works on me
No trial & not enough for the price
