FIX FOR NOTIFICATION & PAYMENT SCREEN BUG
For anyone having trouble with the Club CITGO app and getting stuck on the “Turn on notifications to stay updated on your rewards” screen, I found a solution that worked for me.
There is an orange button hidden way down below the visible part of the screen. Even though it looks like there is nothing else to scroll to, keep swiping down repeatedly and very quickly. I had to swipe down around 50 times before I finally saw part of the orange button.
As soon as you see the orange button, scroll back slowly until you can see it clearly, then tap it. After I did that, the app finally let me continue and everything worked normally.
The same thing happens when you try to add a credit/debit card or payment method. If you get stuck on that screen, do exactly the same thing: keep swiping down quickly many times until the hidden orange button appears. Then scroll back slowly, find the button, and tap it to continue.
I tried reinstalling the app, restarting my phone, and changing the notification and location permissions, but none of that fixed the problem. The hidden orange button was the solution for me.

Discount amount
Many times the discount shown on the app is not what I receive. Seems to happen at certain stations, which I no longer visit.
Frustratingly Glitchy
This app has never worked well and lately doesn’t work at all. Not sure why they provide so little support.

Can’t login
This app worked fine for the first week or so. It automatically logged me out for some reason and won’t let me back in. It keeps telling me to check my email, verify my email and login in again. I don’t have any emails sent to me that give me an option to verify the email. It’s just an endless loop of telling me to do that. Tried to see if I could bypass the issue by logging in on my computer, but a login doesn’t even exist to do it that way. It has to be through the app which doesn’t work. If I could give it zero starts I would. I just went to Shell instead yesterday because of it. Their app works flawlessly.

Doesn’t work to pay at the pump
It has yet to work at the pump. It’s inconvenient. Thankfully, my local CITGO station allows me to pump and then go in to pay. When I enter my phone number inside on the terminal it is fine. I can’t use it to pay outside and that is very inconvenient.

I like to use the app and the savings when it actually works, but most of the time my wife and I go to use the app it comes up with some error and you have to use the card.
Horrible!
It never works and will not allow me to payment info of any type.
Bugs
Initially seemed to work for first two fill ups, but failed to log the third one, so
I did not get ‘credit’ for it. I was on the latest app version at the time. I will see if the next update fixes this major bug, otherwise I will move on to another brand.

Customer Service is Nonresponsive
I’ve had an issue setting up PlusPay for months. The customer service agents have no idea about the loyalty program or how to assist. I sent an email and was completely ignored.
App never works
I used to use this app all the time but now it’s just useless. I tried deleting and reinstalling still just show an error has occurred. So I thought I would use my husband’s app on his phone same thing. Don’t Even bother anymore.
App no longer works — it hasn’t received an update since Feb 25
Could be a coincidence, but the last time this app received an update was Feb 25 (3 days before the air strikes that led to the 2026 Iran War). Though, regardless of the “why”, the fact remains it’s been 3 months since this app got an update, and users - including myself - have seen the app become completely useless since then. So, until there’s any indication that this app is still being maintained, I would not use it - it simply doesn’t work.

Lousy app
I keep receiving error messages anytime I try to do anything at all with this app. “Error - cancelled” it says. No point having an app that doesn’t work!
Easy quick and convenient.
Easy convenient and who doesn’t love saving money on gas you just pull up to the pump open your phone push pay and start pumping. and with the Viking gas prices, this is help tremendously..I Just saved 73 cents a gallon tonight.
Sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t
Tried to pay with Apple Pay which is an option. Transaction error. Tried to pay with the card on file. Transaction error. Not sure why Citgo doesn’t care that their app is terrible. Pretty ridiculous

They cheat you on the discounts. Customer service is non existent don’t waste your time with this app
Useless App
This app is so terrible that it’s unbelievable. It’s incredibly slow, even on wifi with great signal. Also tried adding my first card as a payment method in app and it wouldn’t take it no matter how much was in the account. Switched to the second card and… it took it! Problem is…now it won’t complete the actual payment because the app is convinced that I’ve reached the max amount of transactions for the day. Literally would not let me pay through the app whatsoever. Why is there a 3 transaction limit and why does it count when payment didn’t even go through?? Ridiculous. Thanks for zero discount and a waste of my time! 👍🏻
