Stop doing this!
The worst gas station app I’ve ever used.
I’m genuinely amazed that the developers who built this app have apparently never used it themselves.
Every few weeks, without fail, the app logs me out. Every. Single. Time.
It used to let me log in with my phone number. Now it’s email. Of course I don’t remember the email and password I used months ago. So I’m standing at a gas station, trying to fill up and leave, and instead I have to reset my password, log in again, and waste my time.
Why do you keep forcing people to sign in over and over again every few weeks? Why do you keep changing your “security” policies that nobody asked for?
Do you realize that you’ve trained my brain to associate Shell = stress every single time I need gas?
How is that not obvious to the people designing this app?
Then there’s the gift card situation.
You sell $250 gift cards in stores, yet your app won’t let me add them because the wallet has a ridiculous $200 limit.
Even worse, if I already have, for example, $38 in my wallet, I can’t even add a $200 gift card because the total would exceed your arbitrary limit.
Why?
Why are you selling gift cards that your own app won’t let customers use properly?
I’m sure someone will say it’s “for security reasons.” Honestly, customers don’t care. We care about whether something is convenient or not. And this is not convenient. It’s a waste of time.
On top of that, the app constantly glitches. Sometimes I can’t even pay through the app despite having money on my gift card. I end up saving the physical gift cards, walking into the store, handing them to the cashier just to buy gas. Or I have to pull up a QR code on my phone. At least you added that, but it’s still another unnecessary step.
Every single fill-up becomes a frustrating process instead of something that should take seconds.
Your app is a perfect example of people who don’t understand what a good customer journey looks like.
Go use a Tesla Supercharger just once. That’s what a great customer experience looks like. Nobody asks you to log in every few weeks. Nobody makes you reset passwords. Nobody makes you jump through hoops. You pull up, plug the cable in, the charging starts automatically, and even the charging port opens automatically.
With Shell, it feels like I have to complete twenty different steps just to buy gasoline.
I genuinely hope someone at Shell actually reads this review one day and decides to fix these problems.
Until then, I’m switching to Chevron.

Routinely fails at station
This app routinely fails to start when I go to a station. Works well elsewhere. Scam to make it harder to get fuel discount?
Garbage
Horrible app, terrible design, chargers are always broken or unavailable, and help service are clueless. What a waste!
Difficult to use in NJ
I’m sure the app is great in states where you are allowed to pump your own gas. However in NJ where you are not allowed to pump your own gas, sometimes finding a pump attendant that is helpful with using the app can be quite difficult.
Couldn’t use it when necessary
I tried using the app to apply the discount, but it wouldn’t let me sign in and directed me to call the 800 number.
