Stop doing this!

The worst gas station app I’ve ever used.

I’m genuinely amazed that the developers who built this app have apparently never used it themselves.

Every few weeks, without fail, the app logs me out. Every. Single. Time.

It used to let me log in with my phone number. Now it’s email. Of course I don’t remember the email and password I used months ago. So I’m standing at a gas station, trying to fill up and leave, and instead I have to reset my password, log in again, and waste my time.

Why do you keep forcing people to sign in over and over again every few weeks? Why do you keep changing your “security” policies that nobody asked for?

Do you realize that you’ve trained my brain to associate Shell = stress every single time I need gas?

How is that not obvious to the people designing this app?

Then there’s the gift card situation.

You sell $250 gift cards in stores, yet your app won’t let me add them because the wallet has a ridiculous $200 limit.

Even worse, if I already have, for example, $38 in my wallet, I can’t even add a $200 gift card because the total would exceed your arbitrary limit.

Why?

Why are you selling gift cards that your own app won’t let customers use properly?

I’m sure someone will say it’s “for security reasons.” Honestly, customers don’t care. We care about whether something is convenient or not. And this is not convenient. It’s a waste of time.

On top of that, the app constantly glitches. Sometimes I can’t even pay through the app despite having money on my gift card. I end up saving the physical gift cards, walking into the store, handing them to the cashier just to buy gas. Or I have to pull up a QR code on my phone. At least you added that, but it’s still another unnecessary step.

Every single fill-up becomes a frustrating process instead of something that should take seconds.

Your app is a perfect example of people who don’t understand what a good customer journey looks like.

Go use a Tesla Supercharger just once. That’s what a great customer experience looks like. Nobody asks you to log in every few weeks. Nobody makes you reset passwords. Nobody makes you jump through hoops. You pull up, plug the cable in, the charging starts automatically, and even the charging port opens automatically.

With Shell, it feels like I have to complete twenty different steps just to buy gasoline.

I genuinely hope someone at Shell actually reads this review one day and decides to fix these problems.

Until then, I’m switching to Chevron.

Routinely fails at station

This app routinely fails to start when I go to a station. Works well elsewhere. Scam to make it harder to get fuel discount?

Garbage

Horrible app, terrible design, chargers are always broken or unavailable, and help service are clueless. What a waste!

Difficult to use in NJ

I’m sure the app is great in states where you are allowed to pump your own gas. However in NJ where you are not allowed to pump your own gas, sometimes finding a pump attendant that is helpful with using the app can be quite difficult.

Couldn’t use it when necessary

I tried using the app to apply the discount, but it wouldn’t let me sign in and directed me to call the 800 number.

App problems

I have re-downloaded the app three times. I signed up the first time put the same information in for the next two times. It keeps telling me there’s a problem. I went to the 888 number and all that it was drive me in a cycle. Frustrated with this program.

Change of card to Imprint

When Shell change to imprint my 17-year-old Shell card was denied. That affected my credit score. Furthermore, I have managed to get a bill when I am told I have no account for $143.74. They claim I do not have an account but I owe that amount. My Shell card was paid off at May 1 for $111 and some cents. This situation is unbelievable for a business that was apparently changing almost 12 cards to them in the same month business. Apparently imprint is in over their head with all the cards they chose to change at the same time. I was told I was denied because I had too many imprint cards and I have none. Since June 1, I have paid cash for all my gas. Imprint claims out of their hands because I don’t have an account that it’s a Shell issue. So is there anyway you can resolve this?

Can never log in with my credentials

After not using it for a while and changing my password, I can’t log in even after 10 attempts at changing my passwords , it never recognizes my new password and then locks me out? Seems like they don’t want new customers.

Great system!

They made email offer links redirect to a website which opens a popup to open the app which then asks for a login and then ALSO asks for another Fuel Rewards login which then results in an error page. Great technical work on every single level! Love the friction and complete unusability

App is buggy needs update

I started using this app 3 months ago. My lifetime savings number hasn’t changed since after my first fill up. Contacted support and they had me uninstall and reinstall… did not fix the problem. Wish they would fix this.

50/50 chance

Tired of the hit and miss with this app, not connecting, taking too long to connect, doesn’t recognize the pump number, etc. then I don’t get rewards for the fill up, it wastes your time trying to get it to do what it should all the time!

Worst gas app

I mean i have both scene card and caa and honestly this app has been soo useless, its been only wasting my time, cant add a card and cant scan, just add a barcode i dont wanna pay through the app its a hassle AND don’t work hlaf the time.

Love my 10€ discount you don’t find anybody else doing that with good gas❤️

Love my Shell gas

Flawed App

Tried to create an account a year ago and add my credit card that I use at the stations. It would not accept it. Also would not accept my Apple Pay. So I waited a year hoping the bugs would be worked out plus I could add my scene card as Air Miles no longer accepted. Same problems now and could not add any cards or Apple Pay. No problems on other competitor’s apps. So between this and unnecessary and annoying video ads at the pumps it may be time to switch fuel providers.

Buggy

Pay at pump processing is very buggy. Couldn’t process transaction in store or at pump😡

Will gladly take your money

Every time I use the app, it takes the surcharge and takes forever to give that money back because for some reason it just does not want to connect to my car and charge correctly so I end up having to cancel and wait up to 15 days

Dining updates?

How about instead of all the extra garbage that you're throwing into the app you make it work for purchasing fuel I believe that's the original design.

Brings surprises and inconvenience

App automatically logged the user out from time to time, showing incorrect information of the pump (e.g., pump in use) and hence exceeded purchases that ban the user from pumping gas. Never improved for years.

Unusable UI

You would think a multi million dollar company would be able to make a UI that allows me to access the make a password field. Also blood money and data collection

Doesn’t work

If only it actually worked.I stood today staring at a screen that suggested I pay by using my app which is what I was trying to do. Nothing worked . I finally gave up and inserted my Scene card to get the fuel I needed.
