Voice to text unreliable

I like the concept, but the voice to text function is wildly inaccurate. I am often using it while walking and the recordings are very quiet despite my directly speaking in to the microphone, so it’s hard to hear back and re-type what I’m saying.

Sub Sections

I feel like this app could use sub sections. Let me click on a bubble and have it open up other bubbles that I put in there. At least one, and perhaps only for those who turn it on, I don’t care. But only having one level of folders for thoughts can get frustrating real quick. Otherwise, I like the formatting and features of this app. I do hope y’all see this and consider adding the ability to add subsections per bubble on the top layer.

Best audio note taking app

I have a scatter brain and I work best with audio memos and just practicing voice acting. So love how colorful and well it’s made cannot wait to buy the upgraded version once I’m back on my feet. Looking forward to owning a copy of this wonderful softwares

Expensive

Would be awesome if it was not subscription based. $100 a year is a lot

Long time user/ do not like the new pricing models

Over the years I have used this app to record thoughts and ideas and always found it really helpful and fun for my chaotic mind.

It was always a really great free app and had privacy features that I really enjoyed. It felt like a safe space to drop
Ideas Without feeding an algorithm. But now it seems that all my notes are locked behind a subscription model that is very expensive compared to other apps and software that do the same thing.
$15 a month is more than Spotify or other streaming services.

So now I have to find a way to download my data from Cocoonweaver so that I can retain agency over my own voice and ideas.

Was five stars, but this pricing model is unfair to users that have been apart of this app for years.

I understand developers have to make money but this is not an essential piece of software and there are lots of free alternatives.

Great app but I won’t be supporting it anymore.

Why is everything a subscription now?

There is no reason this app needs to be a subscription let alone 7.99 a month. This is getting ridiculous.

Virtually Perfect

But let me edit my cocoons

Insanely Well-Done ✨

I've never used such a well-designed app for audio journaling and notes. When I created my first entry, I was shocked my "um"s and such were removed in the transcription. That's incredibly convenient when looking back at each entry. I feel confident in using it to properly keep a record or remember something.
The overall design of the app is also extremely aesthetically pleasing to use with how each section is a "Cacoon." It's the equivalent of making a folder and adding whatever you want in it. For example, I have a spot for notes and another one for journaling/thought-dumping. The layout of everything is so unique compared to your standard list with said folder sorting, so it makes it feel fun to actually maneuver as well.
The Apple Watch app is also a joy to use. Being able to swap between each "Cacoon" is very easy and the aesthetic of it is of course gorgeous. I don't ever see myself using anything else for voice-related stuff, as it captures everything precisely and the Apple Watch app is a major plus! Super convenient when I'm not around my phone or need something super quick!

I can't forget to mention how happy it makes me that data is local, so my audio ramblings and sensitive topics or info aren't going to a random server's database. I appreciate how they're considerate in regards to privacy and are transparent about it.

Honestly, I've been wanting to write this review for a while. Really happy I finally got around to it because these guys deserve it for their hard work. I don't come across many that "wow" me like this, but I've genuinely loved CacoonWeaver so much. I can tell the effort and passion that's put into it and I feel secure (which is rare these days). It's overall a great experience, it became my lifelong voice journal/notebook. I can easily recommend this to anyone who needs a private space to talk about anything at all with super reliable transcription!! :)

Way too expensive

Seems like an amazing service which I would have loved to use a lot more. But 5 notes a day? 7.99 a month? 90 bucks for unlimited?? I’ll just use the free note app on my phone at that point.

Extortionate

I find it rather disgusting that you buy a premium subscription and then have to purchase all the premium features on top! Like the colour packs and being able to sort you notes the way you want them. I feel that’s way too expensive and rather disgusting.

Love this app but please support mandarin

My native language is mandarin and I tested with default setting (English). I spoke mandarin the whole time and yet very surprisingly, I got an English transcript that’s 70% accurate. I was so confused. Then I tested with multilingual setting, this time the transcript got the good old Chinese encoding problem, where most of the Chinese characters are either traditional characters (Mandarin uses simplified character) or it’s a masked question mark. Plus it didn’t catch the English words that I used in between.

I love this app and I truly wanted to use it every single day. However I wonder if you could please add support for simplified Chinese? That would be super helpful. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to help. On the Chinese App Store market there’s nothing like your app. So imagine the expanded users scope!

Awesome for ADHD

This app not only produces excellent transcriptions, but also categorizes my notes for me!
I needed a way to speak my thoughts out loud, and capture them in written form without going back and listening to the audio to transcribe it myself. This app has been so helpful!!

Will forever use this app. Like actually.

Y’all have no idea how pumped I am that CocoonWeaver is coming to Android soon. I switched from an iPhone to an Android without realizing the app wasn’t available on the Play Store yet, and I literally kept my iPad just to continue using it. That’s how much I love this app.

One of my favorite features is the ability to create folders for different categories, which is super helpful because a lot of voice recording apps I’ve tried before didn’t offer this kind of organization, so I would usually end up naming my recordings something like “lsjkfiesjl,” telling myself I’d come back and rename it with something more specific later (which, let’s be honest, never happened), and then I’d confuse my own self trying to figure out what the heck I’d meant. But with categories, even if I give a recording some keyboard smash name in the moment, at least I know what general theme it falls under, which is extremely helpful for anyone else like me who has mild-to-severe ADHD.

I also love the auto-transcription feature, which was very helpful during a personal time in my life when I was going through a breakup with a long-term partner a few years ago. I’d been using the app to record personal reflections and reminders to myself about why I decided to leave, and it helped me stay grounded in reality and in my decision, especially in those weak moments when my brain wanted to romanticize the past and forget the reasons things ended. In those moments, the transcription feature came in VERY handy because I didn’t have to relive the sadness by having to hear the emotion in my voice whenever I needed those reminders. I could just read what I’d said. That meant so much more to me than I can even express.

Also, just a side note: I understand that people have different experiences with any app, and not everything works perfectly on every device. Honest feedback is always good! But there is a difference between constructive criticism and unnecessary rudeness like name-calling. Some negative reviews I’ve seen feel more like misdirected frustration about capitalism than genuine critiques of the app itself. It’s important to remember that not all developers have massive budgets or big teams behind them. A lot of the time, it’s just a small group of real, genuine people who had a passion and wanted to build something to help others. I don’t know the specifics behind the CocoonWeaver team, but at the end of the day, they’re also just human beings trying to make it in this world, deserving of the same dignity and respect we’d hope to receive ourselves. Much love!

unable to open the app

after two years of not using the app i decided to try to get back in, since i have a lot of audios recorded, and everytime i click on the app it knocks me off…

Wish there were more colour schemes

I’m really enjoying this app and feel it’s great for keeping everything you need in the one place.

I just wish there were more colour schemes. I really don’t like the colour options available, which is currently very limited. I’d like to see a bigger selection of brighter colour options along with more pastel colours. I’d like to be able to change the size of the bubbles as well. I wouldn’t mind paying for these options either. Otherwise this is a great app.

My first ever review and it’s only 6 pages long!! I love this app!

Let me preface this by saying my brain is essentially a haunted house with post-its flying around in the dark. I’ve tried every app, every notebook system, every productivity cult, and most of them just end up becoming reminders of my neurodivergent abandonment. But this app is built for people with ADHD, as well as people who think in voice memos and half-finished metaphors.

When I finally found this app it was genuinely shocking so see, for the first time, a program that wasn’t visually overwhelming, convoluted and felt sensorily satisfying.
I started using it and uncovered so many things about myself as a verbal processor and now use it every day.

I use it to store voice notes for character ideas, journaling, lines of dialogue, personal meltdowns disguised as insight, and some audio rants I’m too scared to re-listen to but know are gold.

it organizes everything in a way that’s actually useful but moreover the display doesn’t make my brain want to puke. I don’t know what to tell you it’s again an adhd thing. It’s a clean, functioning external hard drive for my 300,00000 current thoughts.

Anyway I accidentally wiped all of my files after having this app since its inception and was ready to throw my phone into a canyon so I sent a desperate, slightly unhinged email to support expecting a bot to respond in 6-8 business weeks

Instead the CEO wrote me back and helped me recover everything.

This app has officially made it into my Holy Grail List™ I use it every day as a morning walk journal (thank god for headphones making it look like I’m not talking to myself which I am) If you are ADHD, creative, emotionally erratic, or spiritually allergic to linear thought—get it

Love this app

So nice and easy to use. The transcriber understands my accent, so it wins! I got unlimited in case.

Thank you thank u thank u so much for making this app & for making it work so phenomenally well.🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍 & for designing it to be such a simple and easy, calming, polished, aesthetic, clean and seamless experience to use it whenever + wherever I have anything on my head I want to get down for journaling or note taking or brain dumping or notes to self or just anything & everything😇😇😇

…Forreal ,, this app is so goodie that sometimes I imagine what if it was its whole own device or something , like a companion to my phone with this app on it and and without all the other distractions of a phone …Or maybe even 2 devices like some mini recorder ring or watch or thing that I could journal/notetake on whenever and then come home to a whole CocoonWeave tablet with all my journals and notebooks ..
This app is just the best ty🤍😇It makes me feel so much better when there’s too much in my head and no other not taking or journaling or word processing app ha evr been able to do tht b4🤍

Wanted to love it, but ability to access recordings is inconsistent

It’s a beautiful app with a well thought out design and very clear app orientation. Unfortunately, the ability to actually access recordings is not consistent. I’ll open the app, tap the applicable category, but nothing happens. I have to close and reopen the app or keep tapping around until it eventually responds. Unfortunately, this is a fatal flaw for me. I hope the developer can fix it in the future.

Good and bads

I like the layout and design, it’s visually pleasing and more fun to use then your standard notes app.
Though a dark mode and control F for everything would be nice. With the current light mode I can’t see some of the settings and whatnot that are in the corner. Also lately I’ve been having issues accessing my Cocoons, sometimes when I click on them I can’t open them, and have to exit and enter the app two or three times before it lets me open them to access my notes.
If these issues were fixed I’d definitely be open to buying the lifetime pass, because it would be one of the best notes app I’ve used.
