About

CoffeeBuddy is a cozy, paper-style journal for people who take their coffee a little too seriously, in a good way. Log each brew the way you would scribble it in a real notebook: the beans, the grind, the ratio, the water temperature, what it tasted like, and what you want to change next time. Then let the app do what notebooks can't. THE JOURNAL NOTICES THINGS The more you log, the more patterns show up on the Insights page. Real observations, written in plain English, pulled from your own entries: - "You keep favoring natural coffees. 4.8 stars against 3.9 for washed." - "Your best filter brews cluster around 1:16." - "Beans 5 to 9 days off roast rate highest for you." - "For washed coffees, the V60 beats the Switch, 4.2 stars to 3.5." Maybe you already know you're a light roast person. But do you know your best water temperature? Whether your morning cups really beat your evening ones? Which flavor keeps showing up in everything you rate five stars? Your journal knows. BUILT FOR HOW YOU ACTUALLY BREW - Scan the bag: point the camera at a coffee bag and the name, roaster, origin, process, roast date, and tasting notes fill themselves in. You just check them. A bag already on your shelf is recognized on sight. - Eight methods: espresso, pour-over, French press, AeroPress, moka pot, cold brew, drip, and siphon - Sensible starting numbers for each one: dose, ratio, temperature, grind, and timing - A brew timer for every pour and shot, with notes and water amounts step by step - The timer keeps counting with your phone locked, and taps you when the pour is done - A built-in library of classic coffees that pre-fills origin, variety, and typical flavors - Roast dates, so freshness becomes something you can measure instead of guess - Your gear on every brew: grinders, brewers, and espresso machines, with the setting you used last time suggested for you. Insights compares them, and tells you which brewer wins for which kind of coffee. - Rest time for fresh roasts: add a bag to the shelf the day it arrives, set how long it should rest, and get one quiet reminder the morning it's ready. The suggested rest comes from your own best-rated freshness window once you have the data. - A shelf that knows which bags are sealed and resting, open, in the freezer, or finished. The freezer pauses a bag's age, so a bag frozen at its peak is still at its peak months later. - A brew water calculator: pick a community water recipe or save your own, and get exact mineral doses for any batch size - Log which water went into each brew, and Insights will tell you which one your palate prefers - Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets: your streak, the next bag coming off its rest, and a one-tap Brew another - The brew timer in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen while a pour or shot runs - On iPhone Duo, the journal opens like a book: the list on one page, the entry on the other A PROPER JOURNAL - Bag photos and brew photos, taped in like prints, leading every row of the journal - Tasting words you can tap, plus any words of your own - Star ratings, freeform notes, and a page for every brew. Edit any entry, and date the ones you logged late. - This week at a glance on the Home page, a calendar to flip back through with ready days marked for resting bags, and search across everything you've written - Export the whole journal to CSV whenever you like. It's your data. QUIET BY DESIGN No account. No ads. No tracking. Everything stays on your device, and that includes the bag scanner, which reads labels on the phone itself. Also there is a small bean who lives in the brew timer and slowly roasts as you log more brews. He is doing great. Brew, jot it down, and find out what you actually like.

Brew cards. Share any brew as one tidy image: photos, the coffee, your recipe and gear, tasting notes, and what the cup cost. Made for Reddit and group chats. Decaf gets its own lane in Insights, so it's never ranked against regular coffee. Insights also compares the same coffee brewed different ways, filters by time period, can skip dial-in brews, and adds what you've spent. Elevation on every bag, and a look at which altitudes you like best. Edit any bag on the shelf. Bags show grams left and when to drink them by. Scale, kettle, and filter on every brew, with a count of the filters left in the pack. Plus 650 grinders, brewers, and papers to pick from.
