About
SwipeBuddy uses Apple's Screen Time to block the apps and websites you choose once your daily time is up. Not a reminder you swipe away. A real block screen, until midnight.
HOW IT WORKS
Pick the apps and sites that take up your time, like the short-video apps you open without thinking. Set a daily limit. SwipeBuddy counts your time through Screen Time, sends a heads-up when 10 minutes are left, and covers those apps and sites with a block screen when time runs out. It blocks whole apps, not parts of them.
ONE LIMIT ON IPHONE AND IPAD
Your iPhone and iPad share one daily limit and one set of emergency unlocks through your iCloud, so switching devices doesn't double your time. They catch up every few minutes of use, so the total can run a little over. Pick your apps on each device, since iOS keeps those separate. You can turn sync off in Settings.
NO CHANGING THE RULES MID-SCROLL
Lowering your limit applies right away. Raising it, removing an app or adding unlocks waits until midnight, so a moment of temptation can't undo a decision you made with a clear head.
A PAUSE BEFORE EVERY UNLOCK
Really need a few minutes? Tap "Need a minute?" on the block screen, wait out a 30-second pause, pick a reason, and you're in for 5 minutes. You get one a day by default.
ENCOURAGEMENT, NOT GUILT
The block screen cheers you on with a short fact from published research on what cutting back can do for your attention, mood and sleep. The studies are listed in the app so you can read them yourself.
YOUR YEAR IN REVIEW
Swipe through your year: hours spent, hours taken back, your longest streak under your limit, your scroll o'clock and your best month. Share any card as an image.
SWIPEBUDDY PRO
• Less scrolling, one week at a time: set a goal and a date, and SwipeBuddy lowers your limit in equal weekly steps, like 3 hours down to 1 hour over 12 weeks
• Per-app caps, like "TikTok gets at most 20 minutes"
• Shorts and Reels removed in Safari: a Safari extension hides them on the YouTube, Instagram and Facebook websites and keeps the rest of each site. It works in Safari, not inside those apps.
• Insights: time per app, your daily trend, when in the day you scroll, streaks, and every emergency unlock
Pro is $4.99 a month, $29.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $79.99 once. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Manage or cancel them in your Apple Account settings.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Apple never tells SwipeBuddy which apps you picked. There's no account, no server of ours, no ads and no analytics. With sync on, your settings, daily minutes and unlock times travel through your own iCloud account, which the developer can't see.
