This service was good for a long time but now has deteriorated in my opinion. All of a sudden they hold your transactions for review as they please and then respond with automated annoying emails that don’t help anyone

CoinJar is useless in most US states
Do you live in Florida, Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, or 26 other large US states? This app will COMPLETELY waste your time. Like most crypto platforms, CoinJar requires a LOT of highly sensitive information about yourself as part of identity verification (KYC) during onboarding if you plan to use advertised features such as their prepaid Mastercard, token swaps, bank transfers, or even simply RECEIVING crypto... but in 30 US states, successfully verifying your identity isn't even an option. They won't tell you that until AFTER you try, though.
If you don't live in one of the 20 states they actually support, CoinJar will wait until AFTER onboarding to inform you that identity verification isn't even available in your state. They'll happily collect all your data, and reward you for it by disabling nearly all the features in their app.
It's a HUGE red flag that CoinJar rolled out a highly incomplete identity verification platform in the US, as opposed to every other platform I've used that supports US citizens... not to mention that they only inform you of this AFTER you provide tons of personally identifiable information. It's unacceptable for a crypto exchange to pull this in 2026; complete amateur hour.
Developers, you should fully expect a steady stream of abysmal reviews for harvesting data from new users like this. Not ONCE is it mentioned that you support only 20 US states. Who does that??

Thanks for the feedback, and we're sorry for the frustration here. We'd like to clarify how onboarding works. During sign-up, we only ask for the following: your name, email, a password, your mobile number, and a physical address. As soon as you enter an address in a state we don't currently support, we show a message letting you know CoinJar isn't available there — we do not ask you to proceed with ID verification, and no KYC documents are collected. CoinJar is currently live in 20 US states, including California and Illinois. You can see the full list here: https://www.coinjar.com/which-states-does-coinjar-operate-in Texas, Florida, and several other states are on the way as we expand our state-by-state licensing. Virtually unusable sometimes
Quite often, user interface elements become completely unusable. As in I’m tapping and nothing happens and I know this is isolated to this application because every other app on my phone works perfectly. Specifically the check box to use points when making a transaction and the address update part of the application I found really hard to use.

This is a regression might I add. because the old version of the app which you forced me to update from used to work perfectly. I don’t know what you did.

Glitchy!
I’ve had this app for nearly 2 years, always updated it to the latest version in hopes, that it will remove the glitchy aspects of it. No such luck so far. Every time I login, the functionality seems reduced. I select something and it does not work, or takes a very long time for the app to respond, or times out, or I have to click a button multiple times non-stop until it responds. Am I the only person that has this issue? It’s very frustrating to use especially with something so sensitive such as crypto!

Scamsters - Hold up the payment for days then reject it despite it being a second payment to the same person- they let the first one through no problems- then won’t let you send anyone anything- avoid like the plague this is a rogue and corrupt organisation not to be trusted with any of your money - they also don’t honour the interest owed while they hold your money to ransom- complete scamsters!
