Ein großartige lehrreich App mit drei pejorativen Vogelnamen
A Few Things
Response from developer
Hi Chris, Thanks very much for your feedback on the app. We'll definitely take a look at improving the size of the map legends – look for that in a future update. The UK & Ireland maps are taken from the BTO's 2007–11 Bird Atlas. More information about this can be found on their website. The size of the dots indicate how confident they were in those sightings – 'possible, 'probably' and 'confirmed'. Again, we'll definitely look to add this information in the near-future. The app should include the complete text from the book. Note that the texts may be different to your 2nd edition copy of the book – the 3rd edition made a LOT of changes. In the app we've put the identification text first, followed by the location information ('General') and then Voice. Do get in touch (support@natureguides.com) if you have any further questions or comments, and we'll update you here when our team is able to address your other points.

Identify Assist update
The advantage of using this app is that mobile data doesn’t need to be on which is useful when there is no signal (which there often isn’t in many rural locations). On the other hand Merlin is free. I’ll keep trialling Audio ID on this app for the remainder of the year I’ve already paid for and have upgraded my review to a cautious 4 stars. It would have been 3 stars but the extra one is for the helpful Developer response to my initial review in the next paragraph. Thank you Collins Bird App!
I love this app and have used it successfully over many years, so this review is specifically about the subscription service Identify Assist and specifically the identification of bird sounds in the field. It simply doesn’t work. I tried it with known calls and it failed, whereas the free Merlin app correctly identified them instantly. The tests were on Meadow Pipit and Chiffchaff calls (NOT songs). Sorry Collins but I cannot recommend this feature and have cancelled my subscription (unfortunately just after my free trial period ran out!!).

We’re sorry to hear about your issues with the Identify subscription. Some users have reported an issue with the latest version of the app where no calls were matching. The fix is to delete and re-download bot AI models from the ‘My Downloads’ screen. If that doesn’t work for you do get in touch with us at support@natureguides.com and we can help you further.
