Why is this rated 17+?
In order to install this app on my sonโs phone, I had to unlock all apps rated 17+ for my 13-year-old
Response from developer
Yes this is kind of annoying but because it's considered a "health" application, the rating provided by apple makes this a 17+ app unfortunately
Not very usefull in practice
-it logs you out for no reason. Thats not going to be helpful if I'm concussed. Im not going to remember a login for a app I barely used and set up 2 months ago even when Im not concussed
-it decides that valid baselines you did in a quiet place are arbitrarily invalid because you're too slow, aparently this app thinks I'm borderline concussed already half of the time I try do a baseline ๐. Call me slow as a insult I really dont care, but that makes the app useless because its already judging you against a set "normal" instead of your own baseline being the "normal" to compare to a concussion result. If the app only remembers readings of me in tiptop shape its going to misjudge as a concussion when Im normal
-wont let you do a guest option to test other people. Recently had a situation where I actually needed the app, my coworker fell over, whacked her head, passed out. Came to and radioed me for help. I came over and although she seemed fine I thought "hey, this would be a good time for that concussion test thing".
Nope. Doesnt let you
-Same situation went, okay lets just test her on mine, the app thinks Im stupid so if shes healthy she cant possibly get worse than me. Found out at this time it wont test for concussions AT ALL. It only does the baseline, wont let you do a test to compare the baseline TO, and expects your local doctors to have the exact same test and conduct it. Im sorry but none of our doctors is gonna have fancy app tests, all my country's GPs are elderly, they use goddamn landlines, theyre gonna be clapping near your ear and seeing how fast you jump, seeing if your eyes follow a torch etc... not using a app or computer test. A baseline test is pointless if we cant then go use it to test against for concussion.
Im aware you cant rely on a app for diagnosis.
But for the sports and work I do I had thought getting a app like this would be usefull for testing when a person (or myself) doesnt seem concussed in the moment and wants to carry on. Its another test beyond "what day is it?" to see if theyre okay to follow you out of the forest in the moment when there is absolutely no other healthcare on hand
So basically this has no practical use at all.
It gets one star because the tests were fun at least.
Bad
Response from developer
The testing is extremely sensitive. An invalid test suggests that there were some errors in the test - i.e., too many incorrect responses, slowed reaction time above expected on some test vs. others, etc. The reason this is necessary for baseline testing is that many people will intentionally try to do poorly on a baseline test so that they can more easily pass after a concussion. Validation criteria are imperative to having proper baseline concussion testing protocols.
Not as advertised
Response from developer
This is not true at all. This test can be used by anyone. Certain features are not available unless you are under the care of a complete concussions clinic however all testing can be done independently.
Life saver!
Unable to utilize
Response from developer
This is not correct. App is free and anyone can use regardless of course completion
Great info
Would be great to have a parental login where you could see all your children without having to do a full log out and log in.
