What's New in Conjuguer

2.2

September 4, 2026

Version 2.2 gives every verb a frequency-of-use ranking, not just the most common ones. Conjuguer has ranked verbs by how often they are used since 2021, but only 981 of them ever carried a rank. That was not a judgment about which verbs deserve one. The word list Conjuguer's original source could export simply stopped at a thousand entries, and the other five thousand verbs showed no rank at all. Every verb now has one, drawn from a lexicon built at the Université de Toulouse from a corpus of more than a billion words of French. The verbs you already knew the rank of have barely moved. The ones that had no rank now sit where they belong. Sorting the Verbs tab by frequency therefore orders the whole list rather than the first thousand entries followed by an alphabetical remainder, and every verb's screen shows where it falls. The ranking is worked out once, before the app ships, so nothing is looked up over the network. The Credits screen names the researchers behind the data. Five verbs were conjugated wrongly, and are now right. Considérer, interpréter, décolérer, désaciérer and refréner were set up as though their stems never changed, which produced conjugations like je considére and j'interpréte. An acute accent where French requires a grave one. The app now gives je considère and j'interprète, along with the rest of each verb's corrected forms. On the Models tab, the assaillir pattern used to be labelled 0% irregular, which it plainly is not. The assaillir pattern and a few related patterns now carry an honest percentage. Thirteen verbs are new: acter, alléger, bloguer, cartographier, dépourvoir, encaisser, impacter, perpétuer, recadrer, redessiner, redimensionner, rediriger and réinvestir. Each comes with an etymology and an example sentence. Six misspelled infinitives are corrected, among them eduquer and egorger, which had lost their accents. Three duplicate entries are gone: préenir beside prévenir, ahanner beside ahaner, and haubanner beside haubaner. That is why Conjuguer now counts 6,326 verbs rather than 6,320.

Pretty awesome

I wish it had more of the spanish versions functionality like showing the correct answer after failing. If this had an option to select certain conjugation forms this app may be almost perfect.

Response from developer

Thanks for the suggestion. I am about to release a new version that shows incorrect answers. What do you mean by select? How would you use selected conjugations?
