Great Useful App!! 😄

I genuinely love this app. I have paid for the premium version, and I use it all the time as I tend to travel a lot. Tells you what county you’re in and you can see the actual county lines and your live location on the map as well. Counties change as you continue to move, it is cool. Also can use app as a compass as it’s built in and screen will move as you torn your phone. I love this app!!!

Limited functionality

I really love the concept of this app. But having downloaded and paid for it, I expect more functionality. Unless I’m missing something.

I should be able to do things like see a MAP of counties I’ve visited. Manually add counties that I haven’t visited while using the app but which I have visited before. Allow me to not accidentally turn the map around so that north is no longer up top and have an easy way of fixing it.

No menu I have seen. No options. I really love the concept of the app and so I hope this gets added upon.

Thank you for the thoughtful review, and for supporting the app. This is exactly the kind of feedback we hoped for, and you weren't missing anything: those features simply didn't exist yet. They do now. In the latest version you'll find: • A map of every county you've visited (tap the visited counties button on the main screen) • Manual add: search for any county you've been to before and add it to your list, with swipe to remove • North-up by default, with a "Lock map rotation" option in Settings and a one-tap reset button whenever the map does get turned • A Settings menu (the gear icon) with these and other options Please update to the newest version and give it another look. If it now delivers what you were hoping for, we'd be grateful if you'd consider revisiting your review. If anything is still missing, tell us and we'll keep building. Thanks for pushing us to make it better.

Very Buggy Ad Machine

Free version of the app has zoom limitations is difficult to read and locks you out after a couple minutes unless you pay.

Thank you for the feedback. The county lines feature is available as a limited preview in the free version so users can try it first, and full ongoing access is included with Pro. We understand the frustration if you were hoping to keep using that feature without upgrading. The goal of the preview is to let users test it before deciding. If you revisit the app and feel the feature set is useful for your needs, we’d appreciate it if you would consider updating your review.

Huge county label text makes the app almost unusable

I paid $2.99 to be able to view county lines, but the labels are so big that they severely limit the utility of the app/layer.

Town names are in 8pt font the way they are on Google and Apple Maps. But the county names are in 20pt font, and they don’t shrink when you zoom out. I wish reviews allowed you to post screenshots, because the zoomed out view of the state of Virginia is just a block of a ton of large county labels layered over one another so you genuinely can’t make out any of them.

Please! Make the county name labels responsive to zooming in/out, and please either add a toggle to change the font size from big to small or just make them ~10-12pt font consistently. I don’t think that this would be a difficult patch!

With that, please add a toggle to make the county lines thinner, or make the lines responsive to zoom also.

Lastly, it would be very helpful if you could view the county names written along the lines when you’re zoomed in, like the way state lines are shown on Google/Apple Maps. As it stands, you have to zoom out to view the labels when you’re looking at a county line. But don’t zoom out too far, or you won’t be able to read it at all.

Also, if you added polygons for town boundaries, park boundaries, etc, lines for streets (so you can highlight an entire road instead of only one point on it) + the ability to search by place names (ie “Baltimore Washington International Airport” or “Shenandoah National Park”) I would be happy to pay a monthly subscription fee, because the app would become enormously useful to me.

As of now, it’s not even worth the one-time purchase at $2.99 because the labels are so badly done. I want them fixed or I want my money back.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. The issues you described have been addressed in the latest version. County labels and border lines now scale with zoom, map performance has been improved, and county names are shown more clearly when viewing borders up close. These changes were made directly in response to feedback like yours and should make the map much more usable. Please update the app and try it again. If the current version now works the way you expected, I’d appreciate it if you would consider updating your review.

Not what I thought it was

I didn't want to see where I lived ! I wanted to see where other counties are when the news talks about something happens in a county .

Responsive Developer

I wanted to be able to see counties easily which the app easily does. In app purchase make it easy to review the county borders.

I asked developer if he could add ability to search an address to plot it on the map to easily see the county and view its marker on the map.

He replied and thanked for the ideas and implemented quickly.

This app allows me to get county info without having to do a separate search separately on websites.

County Hunting

I’m hunting counties across the United States and it has been so inconvenient to have to search up what county a city/township is in.

Using this is much more convenient and helpful. Thank you for creating this app because there isn’t another like this.

Thanks for the feedback! I’m using the US Census Bureau official county line data, which does not extend offshore, though you are correct regarding 3NM county jurisdiction offshore for birding, fishing, etc. If you email me at v5cqpsj4e3u4@opayq.com and let me know your use cases, I can see if I can get better data. I’ll also try to get more accurate shapes for streams/rivers if that’s what you need. It’s a balance between the size of the data (and thus the app’s size on a users phone), vs. precision of boundaries.

So handy

In target marketing, marketing research sampling, political science, etc it has always been a pain to get the county geography. Trying to pull FIPS codes from census and merge them into an address perspective was always difficult. So glad to have this easy to use app to get the county view. Do pay the in app purchase cost to get the county line addition as it is much faster if you are wanting to see a bunch quickly.

Not ready for prime time.

I’ve been looking for a replacement for Locate.me app which stopped working a year or two ago. Decided to try this one out. The county boundaries aren’t too precise where they follow the thalweg of a stream or river or a crest of a mountain range. They also don’t extend offshore. If I understand correctly county jurisdiction extends at least 3 nautical miles (in California) from the continent and from certain offshore islands.
