What's New in Crowsflight

1.9.0

July 5, 2026

• NEW: Share a place to Crowsflight straight from Apple Maps or Google Maps — it becomes a destination instantly. • Rebuilt for today's screens — no more letterboxing, plays nice with the notch and home indicator. • The map now opens centered on you, oriented to your heading, and keeps your destination pin in view while it follows you. • Faster launch, and the compass is ready the instant you return to the app. • Lower battery use while navigating. • Smoother destination swiping and list gestures. • Lots of small fixes and polish throughout.

Great and Simple

Nice and simple for those of us on foot.

Helped me aim to my tower

This app was very handy for aiming to the cell tower that is 7 miles away. I simply put the location my tower is and line up north to get a very accurate direction.

I also like that this app doesn’t collect information about you. Thanks!

5 star review.

PS keep in mind this isn’t for navigation unless you fly. It’s in the name. 😂

Nice app helps to find cell tower location

I know the location of some cell towers in our area. It’s nice to know where to point our antennas. It would be great if you could use built in gyroscope to make an active pointer to a particular location. That way it doesn’t matter how you point your phone it will always point that direction. We’ll see how this develops.

FAQ

What does Crowsflight do?

Crowsflight is a GPS compass app designed for intuitive, mapless navigation. It points you towards your destination using GPS and a compass, displaying distance and heading. You can also drop markers, search for locations, and manage saved places.

How does the offline navigation work?

Once you have loaded your destination, the app uses only GPS to navigate, meaning you do not need a data connection. Searching for new destinations or auto-naming locations requires an internet connection, but the core navigation functionality is offline.

Is Crowsflight suitable for driving?

The app explicitly states it is not meant for driving. Cars often have magnetic interference that affects compass reliability, and for driving, turn-by-turn directions are generally recommended. This app is better suited for walking or exploring on foot.

How can I save and sync my locations?

You can drop a marker at your current position or long-press on the map view to save a new location. The app supports saving and syncing locations to iCloud, allowing you to access them across your devices. Locations can also be backed up to your computer via iTunes file sharing.

What are the main features for managing destinations?

You can search for destinations by address or placename, input latitude and longitude manually, or search for what3words locations offline. The list view shows relative distances to your saved locations, and you can rearrange this list. The map view also allows you to see and select saved locations, drag and drop pins, and save new ones.
