What's New in Cycling Guide

3.0

May 13, 2026

We’ve updated the way that we manage Regions in the app. Relatedly, Cycling Guide now provides the best available cycling-friendly routes in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, with more new Regions to come soon! We’ve added a few more Cycling Tips to help folks who may be new to cycling. And our tips are now managed more effectively, meaning we can update them and add new ones quickly as needed! Explore Rides have been updated. People using the app can now view an Explore Ride directly without having to get a route to its start. We’ve added a few more friendly businesses. And these are now managed more effectively, meaning we can update them and add new ones quickly as needed! And in Waterloo Region, ON, we now show the locations for the City of Kitchener’s Bikecheck for secure cycle storage at special events all summer. We’ll be adding similar valet bike parking for other Regions as well. We’ve added sponsorships for 2026. We think of our sponsors as valued partners, and their financial support helps us keep Cycling Guide free for everyone! We implemented many bug fixes of the recent “off season”! The most notable/annoying might be a bug that prevented people who had just installed the app from getting past the terms and conditions screen. Its fixed! We’ve updated (and thoroughly tested) the way that we process data for use in our routing, and as a result our routes are improved in all Regions! And we’ve improved search results for addresses and locations, with better and more consistent results in all Regions

Doesn’t show bike lanes and trails.

The idea of biking map is to have routes with bike lanes and trails to plan the routes personally as I like to find routes I prefer and don’t prefer to avoid in the future. This map doesn’t show bike lanes and trails. Useless map

It’s only Ontario and somewhere in Nova Scotia

It’s nice to know that from the title or description before you download it.

Buggy

Stuck on Waterloo after choosing Ottawa. After getting it to switch the search feature can't find something simple like a public library. UI is glitchy and unresponsive. Forced / unskippable supporter thanks pages. Accepts donations and promoted by the city of Ottawa, but doesn't seem to be open source? Promising idea but currently needs work.

Junk

only showed me a route 20 mins longer and on streets vs taking the bike path along the Ottawa River! WTAF?
