Due to Apple’s own internal policies, this app is unable to do background recording on iPhones

Very useful and works well. My own phone mount isn't great so it's a little shaky but I'll look into their mount.
Would recommend a more SEO searchable name (impossible to look up from Google), better graphic design on the app (looks a little outdated), but these are such nitpicky things.
Am very happy to not have to buy an expensive dash cam that I need to remove and charge, the ease of using the phone as a dash cam is so nice.

Quick tips to make it even better
I haven’t even used this app on a ride yet but I’m already in love. I wish I had two phones one for my handle bars and one for my rear!
At first the video quality was subpar and I noticed when I went into my camera app the quality was much higher.
So I went into the dash cam app’s settings and changed the video quality to dvd and my camera to back camera (alternate). This is such a good touch on the software developers side.
I didn’t realize how much higher quality my “alternate” camera is! This will work great as a dash cam so long as you have a high quality camera!! But even subpar video quality is better than none.

It used to enrage me to see cars casually
Blocking the bike lane, making me half to risk getting run over by traffic. Not anymore. I can report them in seconds. Favorite part of my day.

So happy to have an easy way to report bike lane violations. This is a game changer.
Easy to use
This app, especially paired with the accompanying mount, is super easy to use. It takes me a few seconds before each ride to start recording and it’s fun to watch clips from recent rides.
Amazing
Amazing app!!! I love how they even not only take suggestions to improve the app but they actively respond and take them seriously with feedback. Not to mention they let us rate the suggestions too. I believe if something isn’t being fixed it’s because they just can’t for a reason because they even let us know why they can and can’t do it. Best one hands down!!

Great app, horrible theme
All of the other reviews are correct: this app is a godsend! However I do not get the peculiar choice to engineer a horrible theme instead of using the system theme. It looks cheap and awful but the UX is still clear. The design for the low power mode screen is incredible though.

A great utility app
Downloaded this app a few months ago, but hadn’t been able to use it until recently.
With just the included tutorial in the app, I quickly learned the basic functions to Record, Mark, and Stop recording multiple times mid-ride.
Paired with their latest mount, it worked perfectly. Contacted support for a mount question, got a prompt response, and additional tips to practice.
When in Standby, it indeed uses minimal power. Started with a fully charged phone, and after a 4:00+ hour ride (which also used navigational app and messaging app) the battery was only down to 52% remaining.
Great for capturing POV ride perspective (and narration if you wish) and also potential unpleasant encounters with other vehicles. The video provides a time/date stamp as well as speed indicator.

Practical for everyday use
I have been using Dashcam for your bike now for over a year. It is very user friendly and has just the right complexity to use it without looking and taking your attention off the road.
The developers are constantly fine tuning the app so it is getting better all the time.
The battery saving feature is pretty key otherwise no phone battery could handle this kind of use. I also like the 311 feature that allows me to send parking violations or defective bike infrastructure straight to my city’s department of mobility.

Great app for safety and advocacy
This is a great app for CYA while biking but I use it almost daily for easily sending 311 reports on street and sidewalk conditions and to grab photos and videos to annoy my elected city officials and mobility department leaders! A great conversation starter too when other people spot me recording!
Surprisingly great video footage
I used the bike mount made by the app developer and was surprised how stable and high quality the footage was! App is easy to use and despite not knowing what buttons to press, i easily recorded my first ride. Really happy to have this for my rides.
Stopped working when i needed it most
The app had been working fine until now, clunky interface, weird controls, but it records, except when it gets below 30% battery it decides to stop recording. When u nearly got knocked off by a Lambo going 70 in a 20, the normal UI was showing for me to “Mark a moment” by tapping, which i did. Wasn’t until i got back that wether it’s low battery or not, it still shows as recording, meaning i can’t go to the police as none of that got clipped.

Amazing: improve infrastructure & share rides
Wow y’all! As a city commuter, I’ve always been frustrated that I can’t share what happens on my rides (scary or cool) and this app makes it so easy. The bonus is that in PGH and other cities you can also share issues with your city’s 311. After I heard this company helped get money to improve a bike lane, I was sold! Cyclists should be able to easily share problems, since we’re on the roads too!

Decent, but meh
It does what it’s supposed to do, so 5 stars for that aspect. However, video clips are not well organized and it’s very difficult to select the specific clip you want to edit or delete. Also, I paid for the feature to remove the watermark but it’s still there, so don’t be conned into giving them anymore money. There’s no benefit.
Definitely needs better organization of your video clips (seems simple enough to do). The start/stop/pause process is clunky but it’s okay once you get used to it. Plenty of room for improvement, though.

Thanks for your review! We're always working to improve the UX and take your feedback seriously. One option is to use the Magnifying Glass to zoom in to your clips and select more accurately. Another option is to tap down and drag upward for more precise selection. The watermark will be removed in all new videos you record if you select the option in Settings. Can you please double-check this? Other users have not seen this issue, so we're very concerned if you truly are unable to remove the watermark. We absolutely do not want to con anybody out of money. Thanks for the feedback.
Can’t use multiple apps
The recording will pause if you lock the screen, or open another app.. Not a very convenient feature?

Sorry about this. It is a limitation by Apple to maintain your privacy: no app is allowed to record videos in the background while you use other apps. If you need to briefly look at Maps, Dashcam will automatically pause and resume recording as soon as it is allowed to.

Requires permissions to be set but at the time of this review there is no way to set those permissions
