Disappointed

If I could go half a start I would. Says apps free I go through the process of setting up the app and then you gotta pay when your done. You can look at the map without paying but nothing comes up. Gotta pay to get the filters which I believe was pushing 100 bucks for the year. Waste of time and effort.

Cash grab

Pretty disappointing. You basically get the bare minimum unless you pay for a subscription. A lot of the useful features are locked behind Pro, including historical map overlays, offline maps, and other mapping tools. The free version feels extremely limited, and $59.99/year is a lot for an app that locks so much behind a paywall. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re willing to pay.and there’s no point in the free trial cause I go camping pretty frequently and I don’t need it for a week. I would need it for like a month and sorry I sound like a Discord mod. but I am disappointed

Best App out there for Detecting

I had used spartan forge for the some of the lidar and tracking features. However it always seemed like there was something missing. This app covered it. It easily lets me add photos and locations as well keeps track of the routes that I have searched along. The perfect app that finally leaves me not wanting more!

FAQ

What does Detector Maps do?

Detector Maps is a field tool designed for gold prospecting. It combines advanced geological datasets with intuitive GPS tools to help users explore potential gold-bearing areas more efficiently, even offline. It provides access to various data layers, tracks your movements, and allows you to mark important locations.

What are the key features of Detector Maps?

Key features include advanced geological and gold-focused data, offline map and data layer downloads, breadcrumb trail tracking using background GPS, waypoint marking with field notes, and real-time GPS navigation. It also includes layers for historic gold mines, workings, and current mining leases.

How much does Detector Maps cost?

Detector Maps operates on a subscription model. You can choose between a monthly subscription for $9.99 USD or a yearly subscription for $99 USD. These plans provide access to all maps and standard layers for Australia, the USA, and New Zealand.

Is Detector Maps compatible with my device and can I use it offline?

The app is optimized for mobile and offline field use. You can download detailed map tiles and data layers for offline access, ensuring that your GPS position, trails, and waypoints function without mobile reception. This makes it ideal for remote trips and off-grid prospecting.

It's also useful for geologists and anyone interested in exploring for gold in Australia, the United States, New Zealand, and England (for coin and relic hunting).
