QuickBooks /detrack
We have been using Detrack for around 20 years for delivering items to customers. The app itself if easy to use and dose what it says on the tin. In an ideal world it would link to QuickBooks online, but it dosnt. We have created a zapier connection to get the two bits of software to work together.
Best courier software
Best app out there for couriers simple and easy
Love the app
App is very useful and easy to navigate.
Best tracking app
Being a courier I need a simple app to use yet have the features to offer the high level of service my business prides itself on. This app does both. If you’re a new business/sole trader I’d recommend giving it a go. It’s free for one vehicle and then you pay for each one after that. I’ve just purchased a subscription for a new employee so fingers crossed it runs as smooth

Not suitable for Australia
I’m not sure what google maps is like for other regions but for 5-10% of drops it’s woefully inaccurate. The gmaps API (I’m guessing the API is being used in the background) will default unknown addresses to some central postcode point (in some postcodes this represents an hour of driving). The API sometimes cannot even parse a correctly worded address that demonstrably exists in google maps. Route4Me appears to be better at handling this; as though there is some form of appropriate data validation or error handling.
This isn’t just a gmaps issue; the way in which Detrack does not identify erroneous addresses or ear-mark geocodes that have been defaulted to “wherever, postcode” makes the provided routes dysfunctional and labour-intensive to fix, usually by a driver; at the cost of the business’ reputation, the customer’s satisfaction and the worker’s time.
