Way too many ads

This has way too many ads. The screenshots are misleading as they don’t show the ads.

Developer Changed Rules

Like so many others I bought this app a long time ago, because it got rid of the annoying ads. I’m bothered because like the others I only paid so I could stop the ads—sensory stimulation of negative emotions. From a favorite app to trash. Removing it today.

bad July 29 update

The app no longer scrolls up or down on my iphone SE (2022 3rd Generation) running ios 26.5.2. Please FIX! I can no longer use this app...

i paid for no ads awhile back

when this app first came out in the age of dinosaurs, i paid a sum to remove the ads… and to upgrade certain features of the app… and now the ads are back… yay… used to be my favorite word resource for writing… 🫩

Hey, this works, but…

this is supposed to be a word search, not an ad-peddler. it's actually easier to just search on Google for a word, to not have to deal with those pesky ads…

I would give it 5 stars for it to just work as it is supposed to work: like searching a dictionary book on this app. By itself.

Does one have to watch an ad just to open a physical book dictionary?

Well, maybe this will actually happen someday, who knows? (let's find out 👀)

Doesn’t load

This app stopped working. It doesn’t load on my phone. I really enjoyed this app previously. Time to find a new one

Deleting ad bombed app

Used this app daily during the school year. No ads, easy to use, simple definitions most should be able to understand… Now the money many users have paid so as to not be annoyed by ads has just been sucked up by this company with no recourse for its users except for choosing another dictionary. Merriam Webster / Oxford / Word Hippo. There are others frustrated users can go to. Goodbye dictionary.com. I’ll return if things get fixed.

What happened

My first paid for this app it did. It was removing all of the ads, and I had a wide variety of things. Now there’s a whole bunch of apps and I have no idea where all the other things app

PLEASE READ DEVELOPERS!!!

Hi!! I LOVE this app and enjoy reading and learning new words! There is just one small thing I wish we could do! I know I love reading words and then forget them and wish I could have somewhere to look back for them! So what if you added a bookmark tab for words?! Then you can save all your favourite words! I’d love to see this added in! Thank you!

Unknown pop-up came up that wanted money

Paid features gone

I paid for many features such as no ads a while back. Just to find out now I’m seeing ads and everything I paid for gone. Is this grounds for a lawsuit ?

Broken in iPadOS 27 beta

Not a big deal, but the app fails to get past the load screen on iPadOS 27 public beta. I know it’s just a beta OS, but this is the only app I’ve found that doesn’t work.

I liked the old version more

I hate that I can’t favorite words anymore. They’ve fixed a lot of the bugs for this newer version. But, I really wish I could favorite/save words still.

Not for small screens

I’ve used this app for years and it’s been brilliant. The spacing prevents scrolling on my small SE2020 screen because you have to have access to the definitions to be able to scroll. It renders the app useless for longer words that put the audio / share icons below the word.

Really great but…

Would love to see a favourited word section. I can’t always remember what I’ve searched up.

Used to be great

Over the years I accrued an incredible compilation of hundreds of vocabulary words only for the app to delete the ‘favorites’ feature which entirely deleted all of my saved words. Super disappointing.

Downgrade From Previous Version

I really used to enjoy the previous version of this app. I feel the redesign makes it very cluttered and difficult to navigate. Ads are scattered everywhere, and videos just pop up randomly. They are difficult to swipe off of when you scroll. The U.I. Is uninspiring and not fun to look at. The articles are difficult to distinguish from the ads they place. I had the previous Pro version and now with that removed, I’m uninstalling.

stupid ads, deleted app

and will never use this never again

Pop up ads render this app unusable

I’ll search a word, and when I attempt to scroll down to read the definition, the page doesn’t move. The part of the screen that is supposed to register the scrolling is taken up by a pop up ad that cannot be closed. I got the app to try to escape the incessant pop up ads on the website, only to be met with the same issue.

How do I turn off the Ads?

I paid for no ads on my Dictionary.com app. Suddenly, the app updated and I can’t figure out how to turn off the ads. Can somebody point me in the right direction?
