Really great but…
Would love to see a favourited word section. I can’t always remember what I’ve searched up.
Used to be great
Over the years I accrued an incredible compilation of hundreds of vocabulary words only for the app to delete the ‘favorites’ feature which entirely deleted all of my saved words. Super disappointing.
Downgrade From Previous Version
I really used to enjoy the previous version of this app. I feel the redesign makes it very cluttered and difficult to navigate. Ads are scattered everywhere, and videos just pop up randomly. They are difficult to swipe off of when you scroll. The U.I. Is uninspiring and not fun to look at. The articles are difficult to distinguish from the ads they place. I had the previous Pro version and now with that removed, I’m uninstalling.

stupid ads, deleted app
and will never use this never again
Pop up ads render this app unusable
I’ll search a word, and when I attempt to scroll down to read the definition, the page doesn’t move. The part of the screen that is supposed to register the scrolling is taken up by a pop up ad that cannot be closed. I got the app to try to escape the incessant pop up ads on the website, only to be met with the same issue.

How do I turn off the Ads?
I paid for no ads on my Dictionary.com app. Suddenly, the app updated and I can’t figure out how to turn off the ads. Can somebody point me in the right direction?
YEARS OF FAVORITED WORDS GONE
I regret updating the app. Why would you take away the favorites tab? So many favorite words I have accumulated over the years just gone. Oh my god. Why would you take that away?!?

Yeah, thats literally ticking me off. I have or HAD an account and i bought the app to have no ads. Why all of a sudden are they back?? What is going on?? I hate that deeply thanks. Please either restore my purchase or allow me to get rid of ads because i hate ads. And I want to be able to favorite words and pull them back up !

AI Slop
I used to love this app, but the fact that human beings don’t even edit the product, it SUCKS.
Word of the Day, for example. Used to love. First I found it odd that instead of putting the actual book that the WotD came from, just says “Literature”. Any logophile is going to want to know what book the quote is from, duh. And a human would know that.
Then, I started noticing some of the “examples” are clearly pooled from an enormous base of data- as several say things like “Here’s me using SWIVET in a sentence”
“Today was vocab day and I drew a blank on SWIVET”
(These both came from “literature”, but I can promise you that IF these sentences actually came from any book, the book is NOT what any person would consider “literature”.
This is only a couple of examples of how I know AI is now in charge of the production of the newer material in this app- either that or a very uneducated child under the age of 12.
Also, I try to look up relatively normal words like “sonder” and it pretends the word doesn’t exist. “Wonder” “fonder” anything but the word I need!

Will not work!
I have been trying to see the definition of any word but it will not allow me to scroll down to see the definition. The app has become completely useless.
Invasive
Nothing worse than a simple and efficient tool being hijacked by ads that launch video and noise interrupting my quick lookup. Will be uninstalling and finding a different tool. We all need to have better standards bc this kind of disruptive ad experience has become normalized.
I don’t care for this app anymore
I use to be on this app all the time but since they took away the favorites feature, I don’t look to this app anymore. They changed so many things and I paid to have the full version without ads. This app truly sucks now 👎👎👎👎👎
Paid for No Ads
I paid for no ads and they removed it citing an app version update for optimization purposes. They took away a feature that I paid for without cause. Honestly the app should be removed from the App Store unless they reimburse or reinstate the feature, at least in a legacy capacity for users who made the purchase. Completely unjustifiable.

Ads with audio make it unbearable
I can deal with a reasonable amount of ads, but now they’ve added ads with audio and basically no way to simply mute it or have the entire app muted. It’s intentionally obnoxious and unusable now.

Developers: please rethink the app design. I’m really disappointed that this formerly wonderful app has fallen so far.

daily word NEVER OPENS!
6-3026 update: I deleted the app for probably a year and came back after the problem of the daily word was fixed. Now, it’s the same problem, BUT MORE!The ads on the bottom make it IMPOSSIBLE TO SCROLL to see ANY DEFINITION /THESAURUS OF ANY WORD!
I read old books and rely on the dictionary for unknown words. This is unacceptable. I, like another reviewer, would pay a small price to remove ads, this doesn’t seem to be a choice. Moving on to a different app platform now, sadly because I liked the app… hence why I came back.
