User reviews

Easy and fun to use

I'm a retired business rd biologist who always found bats fascinating. My wife got me the Echo Meter Touch 2, so I downloaded this app (iOS version) and have used it to find and ID bats all over the western US and in Costa Rica. It is so much fun and really easy to use. I highly recommend it!

Great app with good tutorials

So cool to find bats in my neighborhood. I never knew

STUNNING BIT OF KIT

I have used my Echo meter all over the place and is an absolutely fantastic bit of kit, well worth the money, easy to use and set up.

I can see many bats flying around but tge detector can not identify any

I first purchased this device about three years ago and was very pleased with the performance but now even after downloading updates it appears go be unable to identify any bat signals. Very disappointing!

Misleading…

An absolute waste of effort; seems app does not function unless you purchase a device through the app for $149. Very disappointing 😢

FAQ

What does the Echo Meter Touch Bat Detector app do?

What are the key features of the app?

Key features include real-time listening to bat calls using patented technology, viewing echolocations on a spectrogram, automatic identification of likely bat species, recording bat passes as .wav files, and mapping recording locations.

Is the app free to use?

The app itself is free to download and use. However, it requires the Echo Meter Touch hardware module (sold separately) to function. There are two models of the module available, with different features and price points.

What devices is the Echo Meter Touch Bat Detector app compatible with?

The app is designed for iOS devices. For location tracking features, your device must have GPS capability or you must use a Bluetooth GPS receiver. Continued use of GPS in the background can impact battery life.
