After recent update, it’s broken

Now when I start up the app, I get an invite to add my first device, but no sign of all the devices I’ve already added years ago.

Frustratingly close to awesome

I bought a smart thermostat to have easy remote control of the temperature in my house. I bought the ecobee thermostat because it has multiple sensors and temperatures in my open concept house can vary widely.

Not considering the app control, it mostly works well. I especially liked the feature that can run the fan for a minimum number of minutes per hour, as that really helped minimize the temperature variation running only about 20% of the time of all the time.

Unfortunately, the app is unreliable. Sometimes when I need to make a temporary setting change, it refuses to do so and says it can’t stop eco+ for the day for some reason. Come on! Changing the temp remotely is THE most important feature of the app! It needs to work, every time, every version.

Gone downhill

App was great years ago, now I can’t look or generate reports via the app. Basically, this thing is now a basic thermostat.

What Did You Do?!?

Whatever you Dixon this last update fix it quickly!! The app has lost all scheduling functionality. In other words it’s useless!! Get rid of the stop time and just accept the new start time as a stop. You make one change and suddenly the whole week changes. Horrible update!!

Awful and overly engineered

After having a nest I bought a place that had this Ecobee thermostat. I can't understand how anyone would like this thing. It is so overly engineered and I'm technical. Effectively mine just won't turn off despite spending hours disabling everything. The Nest is far more intuitive and easy to use. I'm replacing this with a nest and maybe it will turn on when I ask it to.

Very Glitchy

When I adjust the temperature temporarily, it looks like it’s responding, but then immediately goes back to the original setting, as though I’ve done nothing. I stop eco+ for the day and I get the same response. I have to do everything two or three times before it stays adjusted/changed.

Ecobee hack help line

It seems that ecobee helps hackers by responding to complaints on the chat, phone and review section. Ecobee needs to test the updates and verify without customer social engineering hackers input. Do it your self or don’t do it at all. HVAC techs can help the t stat challenged so stop changing stuff for no reason please.

Really?

Do I really give a Rat’s butt if one if my crummy sensors goes offline for a few hours? Do I really need emails sent about it?

iPad app system monitor

There is a problem scrolling in the iPad app system monitor graph. When you scroll the chart resets it self and the data disappears and you will need to reopen the system monitor section again. It just does not work.

Horrible

I started noticing that what the app says and my actual thermostat says are different. So I started testing it and it’s almost always wrong. As if that wasn’t enough, now I go to change the temperature and the app says it’s off line. I can’t trust the app at all. Horrible. The main reason for this thermostat is so I can control the temp when I’m not home because of elderly parents!

Average User Experience

The app is rarely synced to the unit itself. There is always a lag with the app and the settings you choose to run.

Reports don’t work

Very disappointed that I am unable to see historical data.

Company is unresponsive

Product was supposed to arrive yesterday and it hasn’t been shipped. I can’t get any response from the company. I can’t recommend a company that doesn’t care for customer service.

Advertising in my thermostat

No I do not want to pay you more money.

Can’t control settings through app

This system in general is awful but particularly the app does not allow to control many things, in particular hidden ‘features’ that make your thermostat ignore all your settings

I used to love you

Now you go off line every day and I have to shut down my phone to get you back. Sometimes I have to do this many times. While the wall is fine and I can use that bright orange house to run my program, that is not what I bought is it? Anyway hope you all figure it out so I can get back to my peaceful carefree days…

So difficult & glitchy

Not only is it not user friendly, it glitches out all the time. Currently, it won’t let me change my schedule. It just spins when I try to save it. Deleting and redownloading the app didn’t help. Really regret this purchase.

App is buggy and doesn’t refresh

The app is buggy to say the least. It doesn’t refresh to update the screens when I open the app. I always have to hard quit the app to update the screens and sometimes that doesn’t even work. I do not recommend this app.

Never works properly

I can’t say enough how terrible this thermostat is. It has not functioned for a full month without wifi issues. I would never ever recommend. Ecobee apparently doesn’t care about this wifi issue that everyone is experiencing.

Dumb

Not smart at all.

Can't tell when I've left the house for weeks (my nest could).

Doesn't make suggestions based on my behavior (my nest did).

Zero customer support.

And I just remembered I forgot to change the temp before leaving, and when I launched the app, it told me the thermostat was set to 70, the current temp was 74, and my system wasn't running. That made no sense. In reality, it was set to 78, and the temp was 78, which explains why it wasn't running, so the app doesn't even give you accurate info.
