About

The EllipsGA Access App enables secure NFC‑based authentication for iPhone XS and later devices. It implements AES‑128 encryption in accordance with FIPS 197 and ISO/IEC 18033‑3 (Block ciphers), ensuring confidentiality of the device’s unique identifier during transmission. The app uses Electronic Codebook (ECB) mode as defined in ISO/IEC 10116 (Modes of operation for block ciphers), with manual zero padding for block alignment. Communication is based on the ISO/IEC 14443‑B NFC standard, providing reliable and standards‑compliant proximity data exchange. The app is designed exclusively for use with EllipsGA access controllers, enabling controlled, hardware‑bound authentication workflows. Key material is generated internally using a deterministic tick‑based expansion method, which is functional but not compliant with ISO/IEC 18031 (Random bit generation). For full standards compliance, deployment environments should replace this with a cryptographically secure random number generator. The application is supported on iPhone XS and newer models, leveraging Apple’s NFC hardware for consistent performance. Compliance Context: • AES‑128 per ISO/IEC 18033‑3 and FIPS 197 • ECB mode per ISO/IEC 10116 • Padding per ISO/IEC 9797‑1 (manual zero padding variant) • NFC communication per ISO/IEC 14443‑B • Key generation requires enhancement to meet ISO/IEC 18031 Demo video - https://share.icloud.com/photos/048UK_g8jR42HILYv7H-lX44A
