Junk - Terrible app and support is even worse

I have been using the free version for more than 3 months. Could never get my Apple Watch fully functional, despite the (half-hearted [no pun intended]) terrible support interactions, even when the team knew I was interested in upgrading to the paid service(s) if I could fully set up the app.

Example: the app says “you were in bed for 3 hours and 55 minutes and slept 7 hours and 19 minutes,” even though Apple Health, AutoSleep, Oura, and Whoop report credible values.

FYI - I transitioned to this app to replace the Cardiogram app (which actually worked quite well) when the developer discontinued it.

Go back to the old style

Liked it better last week

There are better

Run down lab at bio reference, inscrutable interface in app to download results and no support. Basically sucks.

Not Worth the Spend.

Stick with the Apple Health app. I have found this app extremely simplistic and providing no more data points than Apple Health. Save your money.

No Go for POTS

Downloaded for POTS and CHOP protocol but without the ability to customize my base pace and other heart rate zones, my bradycardia prevents my ability to reach those zones. I unsubscribed and deleted

Screenings

Very helpful information on my watch and what they are able to detect

Almost There

I miss Cardiogram. Empirical is ok, but lacks the feature of having a family share option. With Cardiogram, my wife was able to check on my heart rate from her phone to see if I was in Afib. We really wish Empirical had that option. Please consider adding it! Thank you so much!

Cardiogram

I used Cardiogram for years. Loved it. Tried this as a replacement and it is not what I will be using going forward.

I would never use this again

Don’t sign up for the lab tests. Some are useful but most are not. Many are just duplicates and variations of the same thing presented as ratios, etc. Also, there is only one doctor so you won’t be able to discuss your results for months after the tests. Stay away. Just go to your regular doctor.

Horribly laggy and overall bad UI

I haven’t received my results yet so I can’t talk about that. But the app is not well designed or stable at least on my phone. Switching tabs on the bottom is weird, getting jitters when scrolling and other strange UI.

Great app for heart health with suggestion

As someone in his 40 with heart disease that runs in the family, I use this app to keep myself in check. Great Apple Watch companion. I love tracking my workouts, nutrition, sleep, and blood pressure all in one app. I especially love tracking the nutrition by simply taking a photo and quick text. One addition I’d love to see to make all of this easier with the fewest amount of taps possible is better shortcuts app capabilities. Like a tap shortcut to log food or a workout. Otherwise, I will continue to use this app a my main source of truth for my heart health when consulting with my doctor.

Update: so I still use the app to track my food and nutrition which is really simple to do, but I just realized that it does not sync with Apple health. I’m not sure why that is one area that does not sync.

Function Health is Better

It’s been 10 days since I did my lab work no communication on they received my lab work. No data on the app. Still says I need to purchase it. Terrible communication bad support. Nothing compared to Function. Health definitely wouldn’t buy it. I would definitely buy the functional definitely has a better user experience quicker lab results better app experience functional is definitely a better buy.

Heart Rate Alarms

Great app! Please add low and high heart rate alarms to alert the user of abnormal heart rate. The alarms should default to the standard levels and be adjustable by the user.

Response from developer

Thank you! I like the idea of shortcuts app integration--if you'd be interested in testing this in the future, email us at hello@empirical.health!

Scam

Empirical Health claims for $190 you will receive a comprehensive heart health panel. They setup an appointment with your local lab and claim it is 100% paid for by a doctor named “Dr. Rodriquez”. I n the end you will get a bill from your lab (in my case $1,500!) and you will get nothing from the app. No doctor contact nothing! No customer support. Stay away it’s a complete scam!

Response from developer

Hi! Could you email us at hello@empirical.health, and we'll get this resolved? Sometimes the lab will make a mistake that leads them to bill in error. We can just call them to fix it. Our contract with the labs sets a bulk rate of $190 (for biomarkers that would be a list price of $1,500 or so). If you paid us, you've already paid in full, so please let us fix this for you!

Good source of key data

How can you not like and value the significant amount of key health data points provided thru this service, which is well organized and summarized in the app. Is it perfect? Nope, but from what I’m reading the developers are constantly improving performance and features. I have full health coverage with annual blood test, but I still value to intel provided here. It’s a good app, good data, and well summarized take away.

Empirical Heart Health is Excellent

I am using this app rather a lot. I find it excellent; intuitive, good graphics, good insights. I can recommend it strongly. It’s well worth your time and money.
