App doesn’t work
This app is pure utter trash. I’ve tried so many times to send money and it never goes through.
Incredibly Convenient
This app is a great start for Ethiopia commercial bank. It's incredibly convenient, allowing anyone to receive money within seconds. The only drawback is the lack of a contact phone number for users in the USA to resolve any issues. Keep up the good work!
This is a very useful app from CBE. But the app cuts off apartment number from the address.
My bank told me this app is giving my address without the apartment number. This causes it to fail. Whoever is developing this app, please let the customer specify full address. If you make that correction, I will change my rating. Thank you!
Horrible
The worst experience ever, this is so frustrating. None of my more than 10 attempts to send money to CBE account went through. Just horrible.
Persistent Payment Failures and Unreliable Banking App Experience
CBE either needs to take this app down or replace the developers with someone competent who is actually capable of doing the work.
EagleLion uses the same payment system for Ethio Direct, CashGo, CBE Connect, and all the other apps they build for their customers. Unfortunately, many banks rely on them. I have never been as irritated by an app like the apps developed by EagleLion. They have amazing UI and amazing UX but the backend infrastructure is completely broken and full of bugs and errors.
I believe they use the same codebase and backend payment infrastructure for all their clients while using different UIs for each app. I don’t know if CBE has noticed this, but the payment system behind these apps appears to be the same.
How can all the apps built by this company have the exact same payment error? They all display the message: “Your transaction was unsuccessful. Please check your details and try again.” They don’t even provide the actual reason for the failure and instead show the same generic error for all cards and all users. I have even tried sending money using my friend’s account, hoping the issue might be with my card.
I have been experiencing this issue for months. I genuinely wanted to use this app because it would make sending money much more convenient, so I kept coming back every few weeks to check whether the problem had been fixed. Unfortunately, after months of waiting and multiple attempts, the same payment issues still exist without any resolution.
How can a financial company ignore a payment issue like this? How can we trust them with thousands of dollars when payments continuously fail because they are using a broken backend payment system developed by this incompetent company? This company appears to sell different UIs to multiple banks while relying on the same flawed payment infrastructure they developed years ago, yet they seem unable to fix the underlying issues.
How is it possible to keep ignoring all these negative reviews and continue working with the same company when the app they sold you is simply terrible? Either remove the app from the App Store or hire competent developers who can build a robust and reliable payment system.

Can not download up or use downloaded up
It is asking for phone number or email address to send confirmation. Yet on both methods no confirmation code is received and unable to use the app. “ we sent you a confirmation code” . It never sends a confirmation code neither on email nor on my telephone number. No response from application developer I sent email twice .

Dissatisfying
So dissatisfying. The most corrupt app ever. Why? It doesn’t even take address but requires it.
Don’t waste you time here
If it doesn't accept foreign mobile numbers, how am I supposed to register and use it? This is incompetence at its highest level.
Validation is not working
The validation for State/Zip Code is not accepting number. It should accept at least 5 digit number.
Not able to login back in
I am not able to login in after logging out. It is saying a 6 digit verification code has been sent to my email but the code never came. So i am stuck and logged out. Appreciate technical support on this one

Came to Review but…
I want to come here to vent my frustration about the app and hope they will fix it. But none of the reviews so far have received a response from the developer or the bank. This tells me that they are utterly incompetent, don't care, or they make sure it is not easy for people who want to do business legally. እግዜር ለኢትዪዸያና ምስኪን ህዝቦቿ ይሁናቸው። With the government’s digitalization endeavor and financial transformation works, I find it mind-boggling how they allow this to happen. It is a quick fix that benefits the economy.

Worst app ever. Don’t use it.
You told us to use legal way to send money to our family, and this is the app you provided?? It is the worst experience I ever had. The app crash every time I enter the bank account number. I can’t believe this is official app. Very disappointing.
Payment not going through
This app is a failure. I tried to send money to family. However, the app keep declining the payment. It is very disappointed when someone trying to send money in the right way commercial bank of Ethiopia needs to do better
Not recommendable
Horrible app. It was good at the start. Then it started getting flagged for fraud every time I send money. I had to call my bank they connect with Visa and clear the transaction. Later my bank couldn’t even do that as the decline is coming from the merchant (CBE). It became useless. Crash and burn. I hope Commercial Bank of Ethiopia will look into this issue. App Store will not keep it for long with these bad reviews and frustrations.

I’d prefer to fly to Addis and give the money directly to the person instead of using this app. Sending money through it has been really frustrating for me. It doesn’t clearly show where the payment fails. I tried everything, like making sure my card details match and even called my bank for help, but we couldn't resolve the issue with the app. I’m just curious why you need my one star review.

EthioDirect is unreliable and not a service I would recommend to anyone.
I had a very disappointing experience with EthioDirect. Their service is extremely poor, and the customer support is just as bad. The application itself is unreliable — you can’t successfully complete transactions no matter how many times you try. Payments keep getting declined over and over, and it feels like they never update or improve their system.
It is incredibly frustrating when you need to send money for your business, family, or any urgent matter, only to be blocked by a broken app and unhelpful service. Overall, EthioDirect is unreliable and not a service I would recommend to anyone.

Works as expected
Would be even better if you include an option to store payment information like debit card, so that we don’t have to fill it out every time. And if there’s an option to resend to someone from history, that would be great as well. Add there is a bug where if you click on get receipt from history, it sends an email as if you just made a new transfer and that is really confusing and should be turned off. Other than that, it just works. Thanks.
