Evernote
This was my favorite notes app but the free version is now impossible to use. It shows an ad every time you open it. I would pay a fee for premium but it’s way overpriced so I’m in the process of transferring all of my notes to a different app. Very disappointing since I loved this app.
Was great til new owners
Used it all the time til new owners created videos that won’t turn off and increasingly expensive. Looking fot good alternative.
Become A Money Grab
This app used to be great but it has since implemented the ever popular standard of throwing ads at you, bugging you to upgrade without letting you get to you notes. The standard notes app on your phone is now better.
You’re ruining what was good
Evernote used to be a fantastic app, it felt like a place that you could write with no limits.
The updates it has gotten haven’t been terrible, some actually quite good, but why do we get random ads out of nowhere about the app.
Please remove that, I can writing and then randomly an ad pops up and once it goes away, it leaves the note that I was just in. Not to mention we don’t need ads that tell us about the A.I. functions, we already have 3 to 4 pop ups promoting the other subscriptions tiers.

They will hold your data hostage.
So difficult to get your data out. I ultimately never did. Lost it.
Too many ads
Used this app for many years. Now they show an unskippable AI ad and even after closing that ANOTHER popup trying to get you to buy the paid subscription. Deleting this app and finding a better option.
New Owners Ruined It
The price was increased and they turned it from a notes app to an AI infused piece of junk. It takes 60 seconds to open on a modern and fast Mac. It pops up information all the time. It has features no notes app needs. Total Junk!
Over priced
Have used this app for close to 10 years to keep track of basic lists and notes. Still works for that but now subject to regular advertising and upgrade prompts (please avoid these) to pay a rate more than the entire cost of a Microsoft 365 subscription which includes OneNote as just one part of that offering. Going to switch to OneNote as it’s far better value for money.

A once great tool
I’ve used Evernote for 13 years. A steady pretty good app. And they just raised prices by more than 50%. Time to say goodbye unfortunately.
Not happy with latest version(s) of app
I’ve been happy with Evernote for years, but lately the app has become frustrating to use. When trying to correct a word, the editing option is sometimes grayed out, so I can’t even select the word to fix it.
Even worse, the back button (<) that returns you to the notes list is right next to Undo. It’s far too easy to accidentally hit Undo when you’re simply trying to go back, and I keep doing it.
These are basic editing and UI issues that shouldn’t exist in a mature note-taking app. Evernote really needs to fix them.

Pervasive "what's new" pop-ups; wildly overpriced
I was a paid user of this app for several years, but finally downgraded to the free membership when I realized the functionality the app offered me as a basic user wasn't remotely worth $25 per month. Sadly, with the limited plan, the pop-ups trying to upsell you into a paid version are so pervasive and annoying, rather than upgrade to a paid version to avoid them, I'm simply discontinuing use of the app altogether. Talk about your all-time backfires. And, even when you are a paid member, seemingly once a week there's an annoying "what's new" popup on the Home Screen that you have to click through before you can use the app. Hardly efficient.

Used to live it, now hate it
I starting using this app many many years ago. I absolutely used to love it. Had it on multiple devices and had lots of notes on it. Then they started to limit the amount devices you could have it on. Later they started to limit the amount of notes you could have on the free version. Soon after they started to force an ad up to try to get you to buy the paid version of the app. You had to select no and then they made you verify you really meant no. Now they have an AI ad video that pops up every time you open the app. I open my shopping list while at the grocery store. I’m in an isle with 20 people and the video just start blaring while I’m trying to look at my shopping list causing 20 people to stare at me. When I say it pops up every time I mean every single time you open the app. Even if I go look at a note for a split second and close the app before the video starts, it will actually start playing the video in the background. You cannot close the video out, you have to wait for the video to end before you can close it out. This is terrible when I’m in a meeting trying to make notes or look up notes. I can’t tell you how embarrassing and frustrating this is. They have absolutely ruined what was once a great app.

I started using Evernote in roughly 2008 - 2009. I am deleting it now. A lot of people have left detailed one⭐️reviews if you want to read the reasons.
Put Ads all the time
Ads everywhere, when I open the app it pops up all the time. annoying.
Legal criminal!
Be carefull! They will took your money! They say trial version 7 days, after that 6.99$ (something like that). They took immidiately 16$. I cancelled subscription and now I will request from Apple my money back. Scam!
Will not open
Every time I open the app and try to go to one of my notes. It closes right back out. I try to get a hold of technical support and it’s just a endless circle of nothing. What a waste of money I just paid. I’ve had this out for a while, and I can’t even use it now. No help at all from Evernote.
These constant changes are not helpful.

This year the price went from $150 a year to $260 a year. This for a bunch of features that were already deployed for the most part and that I hadn’t used quite frankly. Obviously, I’m invested in the technology since I’ve used it for 16 years. Not anxious to have to move everything to some other platform.
This week, I used Evernote to file photos that I took during a competitive review of our businesses. When I went back in to review the photos their “helpful” AI has not inserted an annoying AI assessment of what is in each image.
Additionally, I use Evernote to house lyrics and charts for a music project that I play in. This week, all of the charts had been kicked down approximately 50 spaces on the page which required me to go in and edit every note to bring them back up to the top of the note - DURING THE PERFORMANCE. Super frustrating.
Obviously their testing criteria doesn’t involve user feedback.

Downhill Fast
This app used to be okay, a way to share notes between Android and iOS free. Now the free version has become SO FREAKING obnoxious and intolerable. Every single time you open it it’s trying to sell you a subscription and they try to hide the option to move on instead of just having an X. NOW they’ve started putting unmutable video ads that start playing randomly when you’re in a note trying to look something up, which CLOSES the note you’re in once the ad ends and pulls you back into a arm-twist “buy our subscription.” Trying so hard not to curse and get this review rejected, but I would NEVER, EVER download this app to use free and paying for a notes app monthly is kind of ridiculous with what exists free on your phone.

Used to be great
Evernote used to be great back in the early days. Super feature rich and cross platform. But over time features were removed. Eventually, I just ended up using Apple Notes, which got much better over time. With Evernote know you’re either left with the limited free version that’s got a ton of ads or you pay a very generous amount.
