Bugs never fixed; waste of money

There’s a common issue with the login thats been occurring since last year. You’re forced to choose a subscription, and they will indeed collect their coin but you will not receive the service. Once you login and choose a subscription you get stuck on the page that prompts you to choose a subscription. I literally do not know any features on this app anymore. I remember when it was free and had free features. I think incorporating that again can fix the bug issues. It’s very disappointing because I wanted to support a black business and I feel robbed of my money because I never received the service I paid for.

Love this app but I want more activities

I love this app and this app really had helped me!

On the other hand, I would love to see more within this app such as activities and rewards. For example, there should be a journaling activity, mental health workshops, or even a cute merch store. Also, there should be a reward system if you made it to a milestone streak or was very consistent using this app.

The hunka of the hunkiest people is a true legend

I can’t imagine I deserve credit but I do

LOVE IT!

So proud of what my team and I have created! This is a place for us.💫

Exhale, well made but a dog whistle.

Let’s be frank, if this were made for any other specific group, cries of injustice would be heard non stop. It is insulting, as a part of the targeted group, that services like this exist. I just don’t agree with the obvious dog whistle.

Now that that is over with, do we really need an app like this? Not really, there are many far less expensive options available. This merely capitalizes on identity politics and those that are motivated by it.

The app is well made and it does exactly as it advertises. User interface is thoughtfully made, but again, there are so many options out there that service the metal health conscience.

Response from developer

We recognize that everyone is entitled to their perspective, and we appreciate your acknowledgment of the app’s quality and functionality. Exhale was created in response to a clear need expressed by Black Women seeking a wellness space tailored specifically to their unique experiences. We aim to provide an inclusive and supportive environment, not to divide or exclude. While other options are available, Exhale fills a gap that many in our community have found valuable. We hope you continue to find resources that best suit your needs as we stay committed to our mission.

What happened to modern black folks?

Imagine if this was an app marketed for white women. Sisters, I grew up in the south going on 40 years ago. I was one of two black girls at my school. I know what racism looks like and 21st century US/UK is incredibly, overwhelmingly egalitarian and antiracist. Stop letting people sell you oppression with this sort of nonsense. You don’t need some special app that understands the unique “struggle” of being a black woman. Stop thinking other people aren’t going through the same sorts of trials and tribulations we go through. Every person is fighting a battle, wrestling with some pain or trauma. We are not special in this regard. Sorry to the developer, I’m sure you put thought into this app and you genuinely believe this sort of stuff they taught you in college but it just isn’t reality. I know I won’t convince you of this because financially and ideologically you are bound to this notion of systemic oppression of women of color, but these sorts of apps/agendas cause more racial division. Stop focusing on the color of our skin and let’s get back to judging one another solely on the content of our character. Now, if you really want an app that helps black women succeed, create an app that teaches us to get married, stop having children out of wedlock, and how to be financially literate. It’s not me being facetious. If every black woman knew that, we’d be out of poverty in a single generation.

Excellent tool for wellness

The thing about the Exhale App is I truly did not realize how much I needed it until I started using it. The look and feel, the gentleness of the prompts, the quality of the content-- all of that made me feel incredibly grounded and held.
As a busy primary care physician, it's been hard to find time for self-care-- the Exhale app helps me to actually invest in some self-care with the approach of using short modules (5-10 min) to engage listeners.
I've gone from being someone who did nothing at all, to now doing the deep breathing and meditation exercises at least every other morning. So excited by what the team has created and the love they've shown to us Black women users; I can't wait to share it with my colleagues and patients.

Pagan Spiritualism/ Corny

This app offers a variety of paths within Pagan Spiritualism, often veiled by the facade of New Age self-improvement and inner reflection. However, it's important to note that spiritualism alone may not provide profound growth beyond the realm of self-indulgence. I caution those who consider using this app as a means to enhance their lives.

It's vital to recognize that elevating oneself to the status of an idol can be one of the greatest pitfalls one faces. True redemption, for many, is found through a connection with Christ.

Additionally, it's worth acknowledging that this app caters primarily to a specific audience. Some may find it amusing that anyone with self-respect might take offense.

Meditation, breathwork, calming sounds, and affirmations are scientifically proven to support mental health and overall well-being. Exhale fills a crucial gap in the mental health space by providing accessible, evidence-based tools tailored to diverse needs.

No access

I’ve had this app for at least 2 years, and it used to be perfect! But now I can’t access the site. It keeps telling me it’s sending an access code, but it never comes. This is sad, Because I REALLY enjoy the content. Once this issue is fixed, I’ll definitely be back.

Love it!

Excellent

I think she is doing an amazing job. Can’t wait for her to add more content

Great app!

I am starting to dive into the app more and there are so many affirming features of this app. I love opening it up and seeing a woman of color. My favorite part of the app is the affirmations, however I can only see part of them on my phone. I would love to go back and read them throughout the day. Please let me know if that is possible. Keep updating the app as I am looking forward to making it apart of my daily routine.

PLEASE FIX THE BUG!

I want to love this app so badly, but after the notification, the white screen of death is frozen for several minutes. Nothing seems to fix it.

So Helpful

This app & meditations have been so helpful. I looooove the daily sayings. If I’m feeling bad, it’s a lovely mood booster & pick me up. If I’m feeling good, it makes me feel Better.
Thank you, Katara, for creating this app FOR US.
I’m so grateful. Thank you!!!!

Best Self-Care App!

I’ve tried a couple of other self-care/meditation apps, and all of them pale in comparison to Exhale! The daily notifications are always so timely and just the reminder that I need at that time. The breathing exercises and the meditations have been so useful in my healing journey. My therapist recommended this app, and I am so thankful that she did!

Thank you for creating this app! It has been, and continues to be, one of the most important tools in my self-care toolbox.

Speaking clearly is not speaking calmly

I go between this app and headspace. Something this app has that others don’t: clear acknowledgement of traumas and micro aggressions as well I actually really appreciate the spa-like music that is played softly behind the guide while they are speaking. I might actually take to playing some light music when listening to headspace. Something that this app cannot compete with their competitors on is the quality control on the guides’ audio recordings. Speaking clearly is not the only thing that makes up a soothing and relaxing guide experience… The audio is kind of sharp around the edges like there was insufficient soundproofing. As well, guides seem to have prioritized speaking clearly over calmly, and smoothly. You can hear vocal fry and unnecessary upward inflections in some exercises - this is both awkward and distracting and leaves me feeling annoyed like I didn’t get much out of the exercise. I will literally record these for y’all free if it meant you would have better audio quality.

Needed; Love it!

Love this targeted app! The first breathing and meditation exercises I am actually encouraged to finish and feel lifted afterwards. Note: The “Affirm” section stays on same message; have reloaded twice with same results.

I love this app!!

I love the entire app but I use the meditation the most! A bonus is it is made by an Afrikan/black woman and is for us and other indigenous women, how beautiful is that! It is directed with the intention to address issues that we deal with that others do not even have a clue about. It is soothing, calming and so relaxing. I appreciate and love this app!! I share it repeatedly w/my friends and on my social media. Fingers crossed that in the future you will have a few longer meditations. Thankh (speak life) you for creating what I’ve been looking for!

Great app except for bug in affirmations

I love this app. The meditations are really thoughtful and sensitive to BIPOC experiences.
I would give it 5/5 stars if the affirmations part wasn’t stuck on the same affirmation day after day.

FINALLY

I love this app so much! To hear meditations, affirmations, and breathing practices from a familiar vibe and voice resonates so much with my spirit. I learned a new technique of box breathing with this guided app and it has helped calm my anxiety so many times, relax my mind, and renew my thoughts when I need it. Also the daily affirmations always are on point! So happy I found this app
