Extinct: TSM Alcohol Tracker

New: Calculate your own amount. If you have ever weighed a glass of wine, or known you went through about three-quarters of a bottle, Extinct made you turn that into a number of standard drinks in your head. It no longer does. You will find it in the drink picker. Give it an exact volume in millilitres or ounces, or pick the container and say roughly how much of it went — a quarter, a third, three-quarters, or anywhere in between. Either way you also give the strength, because 100 ml of wine and 100 ml of vodka are not the same drink, and Extinct works out the units from there. If the bottle is already in the catalog you can borrow its strength with a search rather than reading the label. The container list covers what is actually sold where you are: 700 ml and 750 ml spirit bottles, Canadian 341 ml bottles and 1.14 L "forties", Australian stubbies and longnecks, UK pints and cans, wine casks from 2 to 4 litres — and "Something else" for anything not on the list. The one selected when you open it follows the country you picked for your drink catalog. A measured amount is a one-off. It is not added to your saved custom drinks, so weighing one glass of wine does not leave a permanent entry behind. Worth saying, because it matters more than it looks: the extinction curve is built from the shape of your drinking over weeks. An estimate you make the same way every time shows that shape just as well as a measured one. Stopping logging because you are not sure is the only thing that really hides it. Also in this update: • The physician report described its mood figures as a "per-drink" distribution over a count of "tagged drinks". Mood is recorded against a diary entry, and an entry can cover several drinks, so neither description was accurate. The numbers are unchanged; the line now says what they are. • UK units and US standard drinks are two ways of measuring the same thing, and Extinct held two slightly different conversions between them. The difference was about two hundredths of one percent — far too small to change any figure you have seen — but a drink could be described two marginally different ways depending on where the number came from. There is now one conversion. Nothing in this release changes anything already in your diary.
