Nice UX, basics work, “smart” features do not

Overall I like the user interface; easy to use (note, pay to play, but it’s cheap). Very disappointed to find the “smart” features don’t really work; turned them on, and went *ALL DAY* in front of my computer, *NEVER* go a single break. The fatigue meter kept creeping up, but then I’d pause a bit while reading a long document and it drops to 0% again. Likewise, I was on a 2-hour long Zoom meeting and the meter never went above 15% or so. *SO* the “smart” fatigue measurements don’t work – on the other hand, in “dumb” mode (where it just mechanically schedules a break every 30 minutes or whatever time you set) works well. I had hoped for something a bit smarter than just a mechanical 30 minute timer but… meh. For the price, it works, and I don’t really care that when I walk away my computer is scheduling breaks for itself every 30 minutes… My work style means I spent a lot of time reading (versus typing/mousing) so maybe that’s why the smart features kept mistaking my activity for “inactivity.” One more thing to be aware of, the “smart” features (that didn’t work well for me) will want full accessibility access to monitor your keyboard, mouse and video. I turned on mouse tracking but was uncomfortable being filmed and having screenshots of my work taken all the time, so I didn’t turn those on. Maybe it would work better with all the spying features enabled but – that’s a call you’ll have to make regarding your personal threshold for how much visibility you want to give the app.

Overall happy

Like the ‘thermometer’ in the task tray. Like that I can manually take a break. Wish it had one-click snooze to give me time options to finish whatever I’m working on.

Response from developer

Hi, just right-click the menu bar icon of Eye Monitor, and you will see the Do Not Disturb feature.

很棒

如果早点使用这个app,我就不会得飞蚊症了

It has been good

I like the reminders about the screen time.

Exceptionally well-crafted and thought out and executed very well indeed

Basically for me it’s either this or the venerable Time Out. This is more intelligent in its monitoring AFACT but it lacks one critical, small feature that Timeout has, which is a keyboard shortcut to skip the current enforced break. For instance, if you’re in a game or meeting and a break occurs, you have to scramble for your mouse/trackpad, find the “Skip” and click it. With Timeout, you just hit a keyboard shortcut which you know off by heart.

Other than that, this is the classier, better app IMO but it’s close.

简洁好用~

Bug

Hi! Thank you for amazing app.
Only one annoying bug so far - I can drag the full screen notification by mouse.

Finally Changed My Behavior

I was using Take a Break, which is a great minimalist product, but the behavior never took. So far, with this one, I'm actually getting up, and its persistence helps, since it can be deferred for 5 minutes if you set it, rather than being dismissed until the next period. Also, I prefer to be prompted during work, but not so much during personal time, so after turning it off, it will restart the process on the next day.

The Best there is.

Its actually the best break reminder app in the world

Warning: Do not install

I installed this and found that for almost all features, I needed to upgrade to the paid version. So I wanted to uninstall it. It told me I couldn't because it was running. There was no way to stop it from running--no force quit, so I had to reboot just to uninstall it.

Great simple app.

It’s such a good and simple app that I decided to buy the pro version after a couple of weeks of use. The free version has everything you need, but I wanted to support the developer for the great work. It also doubles as a very effective pomodoro timer, and the fatigue graph is a useful addition.

Response from developer

Thank you for your support! And, yes, some users use Eye Monitor as a pomodoro timer. That's cool.

Nice app

It works perfectly

整体功能简洁,日常喝水比较少,作为久坐办公人员,现在是自定义了文案来提醒自己喝水,不知道作者是否考虑增加一个记录喝水的功能。这样能确保每天的喝水量

Useful

I used free version and still find it usefull although not so flexible

Very useful

Easy to use, awesome app.

Great app!

This is the first app that has really helped me manage my screen time at work. I've been using it for 3 weeks now and it successfully reminds me to get up and move at regualr intervals. I was worried that it would disrupt my virtual meetings but it's very easy to skip the break if it comes up during a call and it doesn't interfere at all.
