EyesProtector is an eye-strain habit coach for Mac, iPhone, and iPad, and a companion for a near-glasses routine. It keeps a look-away rhythm through close-work days and, with two pairs, reminds you to swap glasses on the commute. A look-away is a short pause to look into the distance, placed in your real workday. It is not a blue-light filter or a treatment.
【A workday】
At the start time, two pairs are reminded to put on near or office glasses. During work hours, short look-aways follow your interval. Lunch stays quiet. On Mac, an enabled Focus mode or a frontmost app from your pause list shelves the reminder. Near the end, note how your eyes feel.
【Schedule】
Set start, end, and an optional lunch. There is no master off switch. Shelve reminders with a rest pause (about 10, 20, 30, or 60 minutes), off-work mode, or mute for today. Off-work asks you to confirm at the set time, or it can start on its own. Delay defaults to about 10 minutes.
【Look away: gentle or strict】
The interval defaults to about 20 minutes and the look-away to about 20 seconds. Both can change. Gentle reminders can be skipped for now. Strict mode fills the screen with black. On Mac it covers other apps’ windows and brings you back if you leave, but not the system menu bar.
【Glasses】
Choose one pair, two pairs, or none. Only two pairs get commute reminders: near or office glasses at the start, distance or everyday glasses at the end. A swap can wait; the default is about 10 minutes. Your optometrist sets the prescription. The app only reminds you on time. It does not change it.
【Mac】
The core loop is free. The menu bar shows the rhythm, whether reminders are shelved, and how to resume. The app stays out of the Dock. Close the window and open it again from the menu bar. Smart Pause on Mac follows Focus modes this Mac actually has, including ones you created. Do Not Disturb, Sleep, and Personal are on by default. Work is not.
【iPhone and iPad】
Phone and tablet share four tabs, and each can finish the loop alone. iPad’s bottom bar fits the larger screen, and pages swipe sideways. Away from the app, scheduled local notifications call you back. The app does not stay alive with the screen off or launch at boot. Settings include a guide for each device.
【Look-away clock】
On an unlocked iPhone or iPad, leave the device on a desk as a foreground look-away timer. It shares work hours, interval, shelving, and completion with the main loop. The screen stays awake by default. At the due time it can vibrate, flash, and ring. By default you finish the look-away before the clock continues. The first theme, Eyes, is free and opens the clock; others are separate purchases. Mac has no clock.
【Comfort and completion】
Before the end of work, score how your eyes feel from 0 to 10 and add a short note. 0–3 is comfortable, 4–7 is mild discomfort, and 8–10 is strong discomfort. The score is your own sense of it. It is not a diagnosis and it does not measure focusing ability. If you skip it, you are reminded again before the next start.
【Three ways to shelve】
A rest pause only delays the look-away. Off-work ends this workday early, until the next start. Mute for today stops only what is left today. None of them is a master switch. Resume from the menu bar or from Today.
【One device is enough】
Mac, iPhone, and iPad can each finish a day alone. Sync is optional. Restore Purchases brings back a device unlock and clock themes you already bought.
【Sync and price】
iCloud sync does not cost extra. Settings, rhythm, shelving, the comfort diary, and completion line up across devices. A look-away finished on one device counts on the others. The core loop is free on Mac. iPhone and iPad share one unlock purchase. After unlock, the look-away clock is available. The first theme, Eyes, is free.
EyesProtector is not a medical device. It does not diagnose or treat, and it does not claim to restore focusing ability or to slow myopia progression. Ask an optometrist about your optical plan.
