Horrible UI, Great features
In terms of intuitive design, the app is stuck ten years back. It kind of feels like navigating through Finder.
No intuitive swiping.
In order to start a new note, you have to tap a couple buttons just to get there.
Navigating notes feels similar. Not to mention choppy animations that make you feel as though the app could crash at any minute.
It’s what largely kept me from staying subscribed to Fabric for years.
So I’m just going to have to bite the bullet, because their attention to cutting edge features outweighs the thoughtless UI design — which they refuse to update.
MCP connection, AI agent, connectors, plugins, extensions, the list goes on. They are so chock full of everything you could possibly need…
…but with a ton of stuff comes a mess to navigate and a hassle to access. Wait… I can’t add a voice note after I’ve created a regular note? Why not? Why doesn’t the New Note button just automatically enable typing then and there? Seven more buttons after that? It’s overwhelming and largely what I’m sure prevents them from catching mainstream attention.
To avoid the mess, and retain the benefits, I’ll likely begin most notes in Claude and have it deal with Fabric’s “backend.”

Greatest app of all time
I use this app across my personal and professional life and it handles everything seamlessly. Where Notion lost the plot and the minimalism became the rope that strangled their usability behind the facsimile of design, Fabric thrives. 10/10 nothing like it.
Needs to improve
I like the way Fabric works and the interface. But there are two major issues for me:
1. The app doesn’t work without internet connection. Soooo annoying. If on a plane, or simply in a location with spotty connection, you can’t use the app. Very disappointing. Surely in this day and age… etc.
2. The app regularly logs you out. And the knock-on effect is that you cannot then use the web clipper (or the share option on mobile) and you get a mysterious message suggesting you’ve run out of memory or credits. But you haven’t. What you have to do is actually go to the app and login again. Of course, this always happens when you are trying to do a quick save in a hurry. Very, very annoying.
So, all in all, a good app with lots of potential. In fact, it could be VERY good. But at the moment, it is not worth putting up with its very irritating shortcomings.
