Writer Credit?

The interface makes it difficult to navigate to the library or any other page in the app while in one of the stories. There may be method to this madness, though.

Partway through CURSED BLOOD, I wanted to see what other stories were available on the app, to decide if I wanted to spring for extra coins. I finally managed to access the home page, and selected another story…

…about another woman, fleeing her past, running a bar in Minnesota, where a handsome stranger comes in and makes her a life-changing offer.

Same plot, no werewolves.

On reading the summaries for the (very few) books available (to be fair, there might have been more, but the interface kept me from finding them), I spotted more similarities.

In the stories themselves, I noticed the word “architecture” used frequently, always to refer to something other than buildings. There was a lot of repetition in the text, summarizing major plot points as if the author was afraid readers wouldn’t remember what they’d read. The style was the same in each book, using lots of partial sentences to convey urgency, for example.

Either there was a heavy-handed editor at work here, or all the stories were written by the same person.

Why wasn’t that person credited? Not even a pseudonym? Using an app to create a single-author collection isn’t a bad idea. Why not be upfront about it?

Unless the stories weren’t composed by a person at all.

AI software has been trained on the work of millions of authors (without their consent or any compensation, sadly). That software has been improving so rapidly that last month’s output bears no comparison to what it can do today. The uniformity of these books’ plot and style and the absence of any author’s credit could be accounted for by various human shortcomings. But I can’t dismiss the suspicion that these stories were not written, but programmed.

Ok app…

Stories seem to be decent. I don’t mind watching adds to read. The amount of adds gets a bit much.
What I don’t like…even if you pay to unlock chapters they still may you watch adds every couple of chapters!!!! Why!?!? You got the money let me read in peace!

Interesting

But I only got through 2 chapters before it said: error, somethings gone wrong.

Even of you pay to read you still get ads in between chapters

What a scam. Pay per chapter isn’t a new concept, and while it may not work for everyone, it’s fairly common to pay for coins to unlock content.

However, this app absolutely taking it too far and forcing users to watch ads in between chapters they have already paid for.

I’d pay money to read, but I am not going to pay money AND watch ads.

I’d go find another app, there are plenty with the same selection of stories.
