Good app, poor way to treat paying users

I paid for Pro only a few months ago, so opening the app to a new MAX tier at £119.99 a year was a proper letdown.

The features that actually matter, the smarter outfit AI & the advanced planner, have quietly been moved up a tier. Pro is now labelled "standard" & "basic", which isn't what I signed up for. It feels like the goalposts shifted the moment my money cleared.

I've no problem with a premium option existing. I do have a problem with paying for a plan, then watching the good parts get walled off weeks later.

And if you're going to ask £120, at least get the basics right. The "advanced daily planner" description is copied word for word from a completely different feature. Not a great look at that price.

Still a decent app underneath, which is the only reason this is two stars & not one. But this pricing move has cost a lot of goodwill.

Be AWARE!

It used to give me the exact clothes when I added my photos but then they started adding multiple tiers to the subscription and now it just gives you clothes that 50% look like to the photo submitted. That was the only good thing about this app, the outfits it makes is meh and sometimes bad as it was matching exercise shirts with my formal pants! Very disappointed.

Super buggy and a scam

When I first purchased essembl, I absolutely loved it however as time has gone on (2 months) - its gotten more and more buggy like not letting me select certain items of my wardrobe, not allowing just a dress selection and the outfit check recommending things that I already have in the outfit. I’ve also noticed that the same items of clothes are repeatedly recommended and most of my wardrobe is never used. I order to have a better experience, they now have an upgrade for $200 a year when I originally paid $60 for a year. That’s a complete scam - you’re saying that if I want the same product I originally signed up for: I need to be an additional $140? Yeah I think not. Amazon prime is facing a lawsuit in Australia for doing similar things…

I got the 80% off yearly for $20 and it charged me $55

I should’ve expected as much from an app like this. You have 80% off the yearly off $55 so in total $20 and $1.66 a month. And I get charged $55???? Like this is dumb.

Great idea in theory

No way to distinguish between jackets and other tops or create layers (button up, sweater and a jacket). All accessories are lumped together so sometimes you get ai suggestions for two handbags and no belt. Wanted to love, but maybe I’m missing something

Do not get the app

Got the app downloaded my clothes and was not able to create a good outfit. The ai seemly adds at random, there was no colour matching or harmony. If I did too many thumbs down then the app would push for the better subscription costing much more. Not as advertised the ai can not style at all waste of money.
It gives an option to like a piece of clothing to narrow down your style, but although selecting male I consistently got female clothes, and the same looking clothes, blue jeans 20 times. If you asked for the ai to add an extra piece you might want to buy it just added in the same clothes that didn’t fit the style.
Definitely a good idea for an app but the AI is very very bad. The app is not as advertised do not get.

Meh

Good concept, but they make you pay even more than the base subscription to make this actually work. ChatGPT does a much better job

make it free

makes you go through this massive intro then as soon as you have spent time doing the intro BAM payment and it cannot be avoided. why not make it so i pay before i do all that. or just make it free

This app is not free!!!!!!

Immediately blocks the main page after account setup and spams me with all the different premium plans and what I can get with it, absolutely ridiculous.

bad change

was loving the app. now when i upload a photo even clearer than before the results are way less accurate and refuse to generate closer images ;( this is extremely disappointing as i paid for the year subscription and now it wants me to pay another $100 to get more accurate photos even though thats what i was getting when i originally paid. super unfair and terrible update.

Almost there!

Good ideas, but chat gpt can already do it. Maybe connect it to Pinterest?

Glitch?

Updated the app and now it just won’t load at all when I open it, just stuck on a blank white screen? Overall while I was using it (short free trial unfortunately, should be more then only 3 days. Not even enough time for the app to fully learn your algorithm).. it was still very decent..? Worked okay, pretty cool. Some glitch’s it wouldn’t find the proper cloths or would generate it wrongly which was fine I guess. I didn’t care much. Cool app but too pricy IMO not really worth. Not terrible though🤷🏼‍♂️

Zero Customer Service or Support

In no way do I consider myself to be high fashion or have a great eye for certain styles but I can tell when two styles or colors do not match. I have added over 100 shirts, 30 pairs of pants and 20 shoes, and the app will only choose from 4-5 different shirts when I ask it, it completely ignores the rest of the items in my wardrobe. The app will constantly recommend sneakers to a formal business meeting and today it recommended two polo’s layered on top of each other and jogger pants and sneakers to work dinner. There’s no way to provide feedback in the app except for a “thumbs down” which accomplishes nothing, I’ve emailed customer service for some kind of guidance and it’s been silence on their part. I hate giving such a mediocre review because I love the idea, I just don’t know what’s happening here.

Disappointed

Need subscription to even open the app, and to use a single thing.

more unpaid features please!

i fully understand how great of a concept this app is! however, i am so tired of the paywalls. basic functions should be available without a paywall at every corner. i liked it, but the paywalls made me go back to using whering.

WARNING: Do Not Bother

Honestly, this is one of the worst apps I have used. Only offers a three day trial, and for people that might genuinely find an app like this useful, that’s not enough time to add a significant number of clothes.
So in that period I had a few things but of course I didn’t realise how bad the app was because there were only a few solid colours etc. Shirts jackets pants etc.
After it had then charged me for the actual subscription, I go back in to add more detail detailed things and I realise that what it’s adding is look alike items but once things started in complex with stripes patterns etc. It has no idea and the items do not match. So guess what?
PAY MORE! Double more, then it can use AI!? Is that not what it’s doing already.
Plus don’t even get me started on the matching, it has no idea what goes together. Absolutely no idea. The previous reviews years ago obviously weren’t taken on board.

TLDR: don’t waste your money, it doesn’t work, just a gimmick. Will ask for more money. You’ve been warned!

Money

I really thought that this cool app was for free and don't get me wrong it was an amazing 5 minutes of questions butvthen the try free for now sign popped up and there went my hopes and dreams, with the app, Gone!

Mid

Pretty useless for anything other than finding colours that suit you

Insane Prices for AI Slop

Also they bait you into creating an account and giving them a goof review before they get you to pay obscene amounts for whats basically something they didn’t create and i assume the whole app is vibe coded as well

Stop forcing payments

Make free versions instead of forcing people to pay after 20 steps of giving out personal infos.

Response from developer

We understand how that can feel frustrating. Essembl is designed as a paid, premium experience with a free trial available to test it before committing. This is shown clearly before activation on the app screen and in the App Store confirmation. If you’d like more time to explore it, reach us at contact@essembl.com and we’ll help you out.
