2050 until iOS Ivalice Chronicles
Now we all have to wait until 2050 for 2025’s Ivalice Chronicles that just released on consoles and switch
Bad update
Bought this game in 2015. The current new version has overwriten the original. Characters’ resolution improved, levels’ resolution decreased, animations’ got added between the fights.
Overall the game looks ugly and it not same product as purchased years ago; the initial PSX port was much better quality than the current PSP port.
Edit (June 2025): Client lost full screen compatibility. No reasons to lose full screen function on former mobile device (iPad Air 1) for the sake of improving resolution on the new mobile devices that are made slimer and longer.

We need controller support
Not being able to use a Bluetooth/PS controller with this is a HUGE negative. Would be a 5* if I could use a controller with it. Come on, devs, it can’t be that hard.

A game like this just isn't playable without being able to use a controller. Play something else.
The best iOS version of all the FF series.
I’ve bought all of the FF games on iOS and only this game and FF7 don’t crash often, lag, or have issues with saving/loading your progress when taking a hiatus. Fantastic story and the additional optional battles that weren’t on the original present a decent challenge.
Download this game or else.

People are rating this great game based off not being compatible with iPhone. This has been optimized for the iPad. It looks and feels better. If you are playing on a phone then buy the other version. Don't be a dweeb and rate one of the best games of all time less than 5 stars.
Awful
Playing this game with touch screen controls is like writing an essay with your feet. Its a huge headache and it's the terrible war of the lions version on top of that.
My favorite game of all time, but needs controller support
Still has the best music, best story, best leveling system of any Final Fantasy game. I love this game so much, and have played through it on every system that supports it. While the touch controls are pretty good, this game would be a perfect 10 if it had controller support.

fix the controls and save
If the ap is minimized for over 30 min the app closes completely, if your in the middle of a long fight and cant save you have to restart it constantly. very annoying.
auto save would be help or screenshot type save would help a ton. the touch controls dont work well on this platform and need to be redesigned. the sliding method doesnt select adjacent tiles but selects adjacent visible tiles unlike the original. almost as if the slide based control is programmed off of the touch based controls.
needs a lot of work, happy to play a portable version of one of my favorite games but id be happier using an emulator and a touch based game pad.

Just Okay
This game revisits the job feature of Final Fantasy 3 and 5, two previous unsuccessful titles. While Tactics is better than those games and fun in numerous ways, it is also a bit passive aggressive in design like those games. I don’t think I’ve ever had to grind as much on a Final Fantasy title as I did on this one. Also, you can’t use items in this game without learning a job for it, which really doesn’t make sense. Why can’t I just buy potions and drink them like in every other Final Fantasy title I’ve played? And the game compels you to keep putting the main character out in front in important battles, when there are extremely more powerful heroes you can use for that. This game consistently crashed on a stage where I had to fight a flock of chocobos. Fortunately, it wasn’t a stage needed to finish the game.

I play both ps1 and psp version, best final fantasy game ever….but the touch screen version just don’t do the job for me, the combat are way slower comparing too controller!

It is odd that square has been too lazy to provide us with controller support on this game for over half a decade. All the reviews mention how important it is, yet they don’t act.
I love this game, but I can barely stand to play it on the iPad. It hurts your fingers and annoys the heck out of you to do it.
This makes me genuinely not want to support the company in the future. I feel ripped off.

Best final fantasy game!
This game is so amazing. I love every second of the story and classes and monsters. Just one thing could help this version be the best. Please please please add controller support. That would make me so happy!

I have tried playing this on my iPad Pro.
The issue is not how well it runs.
It is with how the game controls. That is. It functions 'fine'.
But on a 12.9 inch screen, the controls make no sense. I have to move from my entire arm from one side, all the way to another.

Get a black screen and after a while it says there is a problem with iCloud. Think this is due to app not being updated for 2 years and Apple changing iCloud settings.
