The World’s Greatest Newspaper
Unmatched.
RIP off after introduction
As above
An app that actually downloads its content for offline use
Content in the FT is good. But that’s not the app. The main distinctive feature of the app I like is that it actually updates and downloads current content to your device so it can be read offline. That barely seems to ever work with most other news apps these days.
Pointless
The FT has become nothing more than a left wing establishment propaganda machine. Very sad for a once great a trusted source.
National treasure
No better newspaper on the planet
Pop up adds
I find the pop-up adds so offensive that I probably will not renew my subscription
The worst news source, except for all the others
Relatively unbiased, very good source for international/global news.
Devs didn’t think through offline reading
You get prompts clearly saying ‘the article is ready for offline viewing’, but there’s one fatal flaw: the app doesn’t launch without internet.
It stays at the splash/loading screen if you don’t have internet, which completely defeats the purpose of offline reading.
It’s pretty shocking the devs didn’t
1. think this through
2. bother to test this

Worse than it used to be. Keeps locking up.
The basic functionality is ok but at some point recently they pumped up the advertising side. Now it won’t start without a validated connection, which wrecks the point of a MOBILE app where people are intermittently connected. Also, I’m convinced that the switch to videos for advertising has made it more brittle because I’m seeing more crashes and resets. (And I’m less likely to look at the hook from a video than a static image). All in all, a bit of an own goal.

Difficult to Cancel Subscription
For whatever reason, FT will not cancel my subscription. I don't want the subscription anymore. I thought I cancelled it months ago, but they renewed it anyways even though their payment processor, PayPal, no longer a valid payment method on my account. I contacted FT and PayPal within minutes of them sending me an email about the subscription renewing and heard nothing back. I got in touch with a human at PayPal after they sent me some notifications about this and they said they'd take care of this. I'm still getting messages about this issue. This whole situation is ridiculous and way more complicated than it needs to be. I will not use either company again.

Terrible app
This app is run by the same kind of morons that write their content.
Whichever idiot is employed to run this app needs to be fired.
Stop sending me the same news alert for months on end. It is clearly not news that FTSE indices will now include shares priced in other currencies.

Good but was better before
Probably the best of the newspaper apps I use but I preferred it when you could select subjects - regular columns, companies etc - and you'd get notified at the top of the home page if any new stories about them had been uploaded. Not sure why they made it harder to tailor the reading experience to individual interests.

Exceptional, dependable
In the anglophone world, the FT is on a league of its own. The reporting is consistently thorough and reliable, (with the exception of its coverage on the Balkans perhaps). Their exclusives are great. So many of the op-eds and podcasts are also exceptional — I always learn a lot and am struck by the balance and sharpness. Shrimsley, Luce, Rachman, Green (love her!), Mance, Tett are some of the best. The guy who does the data reporting is also great. Not a big fan of Cavendish. Ganesh offers some unusual perspectives, which is most welcome, but sometimes I wonder how actually grounded these are. Overall, though, the FT has preserved my mental health and faith in journalism. There is a sense in which as a team they have a healthy sense of red lines in politics and international affairs but are far from moralists. It’s rare.

FT: The best global newspaper
I am a newsprint junky! I have been subscribing to and reading newspapers for over 50 years. I currently subscribe to five dailies including two locals, the NYT, WSJ, and the FT. Gradually, over time, the FT has become my first print read in the morning and my last on-line read at night.
The FT provides unfiltered global breaking news and in-depth long form articles. The OpEd page columnists are thoughtful and provocative. FT Weekend is my guilty pleasure, having largely supplanted the Sunday NYT as my best read of the week.
Keep up the great work!

Small fonts
The widget has a very small and less readable font vs Apple News. Why it uses such a small font size vs other widgets makes it less useful/unusable.
Great newspaper, mediocre app
The work of the journalists, except for HTSI, is excellent.
The app has many irritating aspects that baffle me, but the one I’m most irritated by at the moment is the lack of dark mode. How is this possible in 2026? Dark mode drains less battery, is easier on the eyes, and can be used in a dark room without waking sleeping partners or children. This is low-hanging fruit, people.
