Just feels scammy.
I’ve paid for flatmates over the last 8-9 years at least x10 times.
They are increasing the prices for premium access and offering less value than more with just smart marketing tactics. It just feels like they’ve gotten greedy. I used to really value paying for this app but now I don’t bother using it. Years ago when I didn’t get someone in they used to offer an extra 30 days when I contacted them last time they didn’t offer anything additional when I didn’t fill the room.
Now when you use the free option you get literally ZERO messages / responses now because they want you to pay for it.

Buggy plus expensive
I first tried to use the website. It kept going full white screen using safari so I switched to chrome (iOS) that worked until I’d added my property and couldn’t verify my mobile number in any browser so I was forced to download app. Once my listing was live very few people looked at it and no one contacted me, the site is vague and gave the impression that it was maybe delaying or blocking the messages until I paid. So I spent $45 and after 6 hours a few messages started to come it. But then I get notifications without the messages appearing in my inbox, so it is certainly delaying them and makes me have to check the app multiple times until the message appears. Then whenever you browse people looking for flats and you click to view someone you are shown the previous person you already looked at and have to click back to see the person you are after. Very annoying poorly tested expensive experience with not as much inbound interest as the price deserves.

This app helped me find several shared accommodation options, and I’m overall very happy with it.
The only drawback is that messaging flatmates directly and getting immediate responses requires a paid upgrade. Without it, messages are delayed, which can be an issue if you need to find a place urgently. For me, the upgrade was worth it because of the time pressure. If you’re searching quickly, keep this limitation of the free version in mind.
Otherwise, Flatmates has a wide range of listings, from budget rooms to more premium options, so it suits most needs. Overall, I’d definitely recommend it.

I would love to see more options to customise the search experience. For example, having the ability to hide listings that I don’t like or mark preferences so they don’t keep appearing would make the process much more efficient.
The filters could also be improved by adding more specific options, such as pets. For example, I am allergic to cats, so having a “no cats” preference would prevent me from being matched with houses that are not suitable for me and save everyone’s time.
It would also be helpful to have a filter for the maximum number of people in the house. For me, four people would be the absolute maximum, so being able to exclude houses with five or six people would make the search much more relevant.
Overall, adding more detailed filters and personal preferences would make it easier to find suitable homes and create a much better experience for both renters and property advertisers.

The Flatmates app’s functionality is broken and unreliable. Bugs persist for years with no fixes from the owners. Needs major work.

This app does not provide a good service to the user especially to the landlord. Take it’s user the money without providing any service! I requested my full refund.
Needs improvement
The app is very useful for finding flatmates. I think that the mobile interface needs access to inspection times. Currently only accessible through a computer.

Haven’t used this app in years, so disappointed with that update… this app does not care about human beings.
Bad bad bad
Some parts of the ads cannot be modified even after paying. In order to make those changes, I have to create and pay for a completely new ad again.
I also receive emails saying that I have been given one month of subscription for free, but this does not appear to be true.
Additionally, even after paying, I still need to manually activate the ad, and shortly after it gets automatically deactivated again.
I have sent emails to customer support but I have not received any response.

Terrible app and customer service
Don’t buy the app! Use flat mate finders instead. Not worth upgrading. It’s all a scam. There are issues with messages being sent as well. I doubt your listing gets boosted on any upgrade. Then they ask for an extra $10 to do so. The customer service team have no empathy towards any situation and only care about taking your money.
