About

Some thoughts you do not need to keep. Free Leaf is a place to put something down at the end of the day. Write one thought, choose how it leaves, and let it go. Sixty seconds, once a day. WRITE IT. WEIGH IT. LET IT GO. A different question every day, specific enough to actually answer tonight. Say how heavy the thought feels, choose how it leaves — carried off by wind, washed away by water, burned by fire, or buried in earth — then say how it feels afterwards. PROOF, NOT VIBES That second weighing is the whole point. Free Leaf measures how much lighter releasing actually leaves you, and shows you the answer in your own numbers — not a guess at your mood from keywords you typed. KEEP THE WORDS, OR DON'T This is the promise the name makes. Choose to keep a thought and it lives in your archive. Choose not to, and the words are destroyed on release — only the date and how it felt are kept, so your tree and your streak still count it. Most journalling apps quietly keep everything forever. This one doesn't. A TREE THAT GROWS FROM LETTING GO Every release adds a leaf, coloured by how the thought felt. Your tree changes with the season and the hour, and six species unlock as you keep showing up. The sky above it moves through the real day — dawn, midday, dusk, midnight. A STREAK THAT FORGIVES A BAD DAY One grace day per week, automatically. Miss a day after five good weeks and nothing resets — because a bad day is exactly when you need this most. NO WORDS? JUST BREATHE Some days there's nothing to write. Three breathing patterns, one to five minutes, no input required at all. ALSO INSIDE - Home screen widget: your tree, your streak, today's question - Weekly reflection: what you carried, how much lighter you left - Face ID lock, so your thoughts stay yours on a shared phone - Export everything as plain text, any time - Full search across everything you chose to keep PRIVATE BY DEFAULT Everything you write stays on this device. No account, no sign-up, no cloud, no one reading your entries. Export or delete all of it whenever you want. Free Leaf is a place to write. It is not a substitute for professional care. If you're in crisis, please reach out to a local crisis line or a professional.

What's New in Free Leaf

3.0.0

August 20, 2026

Free Leaf has been rebuilt from the ground up — faster, calmer, and native from top to bottom. NEW: MEASURE WHETHER THIS ACTUALLY HELPS Weigh a thought before and after releasing it. Insights now shows how much lighter letting go really leaves you, in your own numbers. NEW: CHOOSE HOW IT LEAVES Wind, water, fire or earth — each one releases your thought differently, and the words genuinely come apart on screen. NEW: DESTROY THE WORDS, KEEP THE LEAF Choose not to keep a thought and the words are gone for good. Your tree and streak still count it. NEW: A STREAK THAT FORGIVES One grace day a week, automatic. A bad day no longer erases a month. NEW: HOME SCREEN WIDGET Your tree, your streak, and today's question — one tap to write. NEW: WEEKLY REFLECTION A quiet Sunday look back at what you carried and how much lighter you left. ALSO: iPad support, a redesigned garden with six unlockable species, breathing sessions, Face ID lock, full text export, and a living sky that follows the real time of day.
