Freebie: Doorstep Finds

Freebie shows you the free things your neighbors have left on their doorsteps: a walnut side table, a crate of paperbacks, a lamp that needs a new home. Claim it, walk over, pick it up. No haggling, no meeting, no waiting in for someone who never turns up. FINDING • Browse what's out near you, one thing at a time, photographed right in the app. • Like something? Stake an amber to claim it. For the next four hours it's yours, and nobody else can claim it. • The exact spot shows up when you're close. "On the front step, left of the blue door." • A quick photo at the spot confirms the find, and your amber comes right back. Keepers! • Not there when you arrive? Say so, and your amber comes back anyway. • A countdown on your Lock Screen keeps the time in view, calmly. GIVING • Take a few photos. Your phone starts the listing from them, so there's less to type. • Say where you'll leave it, put it out, and get on with your day. • See when someone's on the way, and hear when it's found a home. • Want it gone sooner? A boost puts it at the top of the feed nearby for 24 hours. THE AMBER Ambers are how a claim holds. Staking one says "I'm coming." Show up and it comes back. Miss the window and that amber's gone, so claims mean something and things get picked up on the first trip. You start with three. A new one ripens every Monday, free. If you'd rather not wait, a jar holds three more. OPENS TOGETHER Freebie opens in an area once enough neighbors have joined, so nobody's first look is an empty feed. Until then you'll see how close your area is, and you can invite neighbors to get there sooner. When it opens, everyone's first ambers arrive at once. SAFE BY DESIGN • The exact spot is shown only to the person who claimed it, and only once they're close. • Confirmation photos stay private. Nobody else sees them. • Report a listing or block someone whenever you need to. • Freebie is for people 16 and older. Requires iOS 26 or higher.
