Doesn’t work except in Australia

This should not be top of my search list in US (and recommended to me by the internet!) when it doesn’t work here. It needs to be clearly stated that it doesn’t work outside its area.

Long wait for confirmation once submitted

I really love the app and have been using since 2018. However, the time between submitting a call and having it reviewed and confirmed can be several months. Even for species that are threatened or rare.

Frog resources and citizen science

This app lets you record frog calls and gives you a selection to listen to and hopefully identify for yourself. You get to upload your recordings and an expert will identify the frog calls. It’s a fun app to use and you get to know your frog calls and their names. It’s a great activity for young and old.

Keeps cutting out before 20 seconds… then when I do get a recording it can’t identify the frog… useless. Uninstall

I was enthusiastic about this…

I wanted to contribute as I live in the tropics with large numbers of frogs, but hearing no feedback is very discouraging, so I deleted the app. I think there is too much focus on competition and rare finds, rather than encouraging the rest of us. Would probably be better off with AI in the future, rather than snobby ‘experts’.

Great app, however

I believe a large issue in this app lies in that most of it’s users reside in populated areas leading in an issue in the distribution of the information across the map. I suggest you speak to your frog experts about this issue

FrogID is limited in its ability to classify different frogs.

Not only that, but they exploit frog experts to detect what type of frogs are nearby, paying them nothing and feeding them tadpoles

Very good app

It helped me find the frogs in my area and I was able to find how many frogs were in my area. It was a bit biased as most of the data was collected in populated areas.

No good in US

The app should be clear upfront that this is only good for Australia. We would love something like Bird Merlin out of Cornell University in the United States that covers birds all over the world with sound matching. You have clearly optimized search such that when I look for a frog ID app you come up. But you are no good for international frog enthusiasts. Take a note from Cornell. If you are going to come up in international search, serve an international audience.

Good but no expert or community verification

Because there is no feedback to verify a species, you could record a bird or really whatever, and still have no idea if a similar sound is a correct pick from all the species brought up. Really disappointing
