Not Working
The app was designed for iOS 11 and hasn’t been updated in at least 4 years (sometime around 2021, give or take some months). As I write this, we’re up to iOS 18.4.1; while the app does launch, it fails to pair every time with the G-Shock “G’Mix” GBA-400 watch. The app will detect the watch when the watch is in setup mode (the mode after the countdown timer) and you hold down the connect button for about a half-second, but it fails to pair every time. Attempts to pair with the watch in any other mode will fail with the app not even getting as far as detecting the watch. I wish I could say I was surprised, but we are talking about a watch that a) requires a separate app when Casio is merging their watches of all brands to use one app, b) only had 11 models, and c) was discontinued in 2015. So if you have a GBA-400, it’s a nice historical artifact but don’t expect the music player controls to work. It will otherwise function the same as its physical counterpart, the GA-400, which shares the same case and strap design and has a nearly-identical digital-analog face right down to the hour and minute hand designs, but has a simpler module with no Bluetooth or music player functions. So as much as I can’t really blame Casio for not updating an orphan app for an orphan watch, the app is useless without an update to run on current versions of iOS - it now deserves zero stars, but one is the minimum.

My watch works again!
Not sure what changed at Casio, but the new App for this older model works so much better than the last one. I’ve had my GBA-400 for 4 years now and have had countless compliments on it. Having the functionality of the software which I had lost about a year and a half ago is awesome.
