Great product, okay app.
Our gemstone lights are fantastic, but the app needs some improvement to match the quality of the product. Basic functionality like landscape mode on iPad doesn’t exist. Folders are clunky and not organized. There isn’t even a search function! In a time where LLM use is prevalent, I’d love a feature where I can, in natural language, describe the pattern I want and have the app generate it for me.

Quit working
This app worked great for 6 months then quit. It “sees” my controller but will not connect to it.
I had Astoria come out and they had no clue. Pretty sad that the company that installed the lights is clueless.

Absolute garbage app
It works for a bit, then doesn’t. Absolute garbage for the price.
Quality
I’ve had my gemstone lights for 3 years. They are the greatest invention. There are so many patterns to choose from. The only downside is they don’t update the older system with new patterns. It is time consuming to try and set your own pattern. With that said they are simply the best. Thank you so much for making this light system.

Honestly the worst app I’ve ever used
This app is genuinely awful. The selection and customization is great, but the app is incredibly poorly designed. It is buggy, the timers never work properly, and the help icons pull up an image that is so blown up that it is impossible to see anything. I have tried it on both Apple and android and they are both equally terrible. The lights glitch out every time I try to change the pattern. And you can’t change the mode on any of the custom designs - you are supposed to be able to but the app refuses to actually make the change no matter how many times I save it.

When I change the effect, or whatever it is called, the lights go weird. By weird I mean all white or off and do not exhibit any changes.
Love the lights/hate the app
Prefer these lights over the Govee lights. But prefer the Govee app.

Not user-friendly
I have tried to set holiday lighting with this app and have had more frustration simply because it is not user-friendly. After one hour of setting and resetting, it will not maintain a custom lighting function.
Automate… a little
The app has been very good and very reliable. So it does what is expected. But there is just one thing that blows my mind…. They put limits on how many timers you can set up to run automatically. There are 9 timers. Which means you have to pick and choose what holidays you want to automate. The timers are life savers. I can set it and every year my lights automatically change for the holiday. But I like to change the lights weekly during a holiday so it doesn’t get stagnant. NOT ALLOWED. It seems like a simple thing to allow unlimited timers. Or 1000 timers. Let’s us be creative with the lights and save us time from having to do the same thing every year. Would be a simple fix and a great addition.

Stone bridge Neighborhood
Best lighting out there on the Market, I was the first house in my neighborhood to get them installed. After me there is now 5 more houses with the Gem Stone Lighting. Never have to climb a ladder again to install Christmas Lights.

No HomeKit support
I have the hub 2.0 for the next iteration of lighting, but also given an Opal bulb that doesn’t work with the other app, just this one. It’s not good. Every other light bulb, speaker, camera, electrical outlet fast controlled with Home, but this one bulb has this awkward app.

I love my gemstone lights, and the app is quite good. My one criticism would be that they don’t have a “now playing” selection. It would be great if I open the app I could see what the lights were doing at this very moment. More important when multiple people use the app at the same time.
App calendar
Would love to see the app with a calendar so we could preprogram themes for different events and holidays.
Lacking
I regret spending so much money on these lights, especially knowing now that Govee lights offer a much more functional app with a wider range of features, including advanced lighting effects and robust timer options. This app feels outdated and out of sync with 2024 technology standards. I can't help but wonder if the developers even use their own product—it feels stuck in the early stages of app development.

More options
I love my lights and this product. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because of the app. I have been using it for almost 2 years and have not seen any significant improvements. I am limited to only 10 custom light configurations. For a company that promotes a wide range of options, why are we limited to only 10 custom options (per device). The color options are very deceiving. The yellow isn’t really a yellow. It’s more of a lime green. I don’t know if this is a limitation of the light or the app. Please update you app to allow more options.

I absolutely love my gemstone lighting . I am the king of abeyance in my neighborhood. It’s amazing to watch people pass by my home a gaze with pure amazement. Some have event came to knock on my door to ask what kinda lights I have . I kindly smile and say “gemstone”

Christmas came early this year!
My husband surprised me with an early Christmas gift this year! He had Gemstone installed on our home. We are enjoying picking out festive lights every night (even sometimes during the daylight) to go with our team’s colors, the fall colors or the holiday themes yet to come. I love celebrating with my Gemstone lights!

Good but could be better
The app is pretty nice, but I wish there was a feature that showed the selection your lights were currently set at, instead of guessing what it’s on or trying to remember. This would especially come in handy when you have multiple boxes, and want to have every box (and all sections of your house) the exact same. Also, make an option to set one box, and then copy that exact same setting to all boxes instead of going into each box and trying to have it match exactly.
