Gi Lens recognizes the food automatically and shows its GI as a green, yellow, or red indicator. Built for everyday use in stores and supermarkets: nothing to type, nothing to search. You just know. — A Whole Meal, Item by Item — From a single photo, Gi Lens recognizes each dish on the plate separately. It goes further with composite dishes — a hamburger, for instance, is broken down into the bun, the patty, the tomato, and the lettuce. Each component gets its own GI, and the meal as a whole gets a combined one. Even with a set meal or a lunch box, where several dishes sit side by side, Gi Lens doesn't just judge the largest item on the tray. It shows you which ingredient deserves your attention. — Menu and Label Reading — Point the camera at a restaurant menu or a product package and Gi Lens reads all of the text at once. Each dish and product name is matched against its GI database and listed from highest GI down — a useful reference for the moment you can't decide. — Always One Tap From the Camera — A Home Screen widget shows your most recent scan and today's scan count. From Control Center, the camera opens straight away. And with Visual Intelligence support, you can look up the GI of a food from a photo without opening the app at all. — Forgot to Take a Photo? Still Log It — For a meal you missed photographing, just type what you ate. Gi Lens generates an illustration and saves it to your records, so it sits alongside your photographed meals when you look back. It's there to keep your log from breaking. — Look Back on Your Timeline — Meals you scan and photograph are saved to your album and can be displayed alongside your Apple Health data. Seeing your meals and your body's data on a single screen makes day-to-day patterns easier to notice. The Timeline view lines up blood glucose, heart rate, HRV, SpO2, steps, and blood pressure with your meal history. Gi Lens draws its graphs from the data in the iPhone Health app. Blood pressure and blood glucose cannot be measured by Apple Watch, but if readings from a compatible external device — a Bluetooth blood pressure monitor, or a FreeStyle Libre® sensor, for example — are present in Apple Health, Gi Lens can chart them. — Privacy — No account required. No ads. No location data collected. The photos and data you record are stored on your iPhone. Food recognition runs on your iPhone. When a closer analysis is needed, the image may be processed by Apple's Private Cloud Compute — Apple's own privacy-preserving infrastructure, where images are not retained and their contents are visible neither to Apple nor to us.
